The NDC Library enables you to create an NDC drug product list to help you manage billing for the vaccines given to patients. If you are administering certain Flu Immunizations to Medicare patients, you can ensure that these Immunizations are billed by adding their alternate Medicare codes (Q codes) and corresponding information in the NDC Library. Setting up Immunizations Tasks to Streamline Vaccine Billing

To streamline vaccine billing as you complete various Immunizations tasks, ensure that billing administrators and appropriate clinical staff set up your NDC ID codes and SIM codes appropriately. Set up and map Custom SIM Codes for Immunizations Billing Set up Vaccine Billing Administration codes. Before you set up the vaccine inventory, select your practice’s default NDC Library and set up the NDC Library. Note: This enables the system to display the NDC details in the NDC Lookup when you add or update the vaccine inventory; or when you administer Immunizations in the Immunizations module. For accurate billing of alternate Medicare billing codes of certain Flu vaccines, your billing administrators also need to set up the NDC ID codes in the NDC Library. If you administer VFC Immunizations to VFC-eligible patients in your practice, for VFC billing purposes, you can configure unique custom SIM codes for the VFC and non-VFC patients for each location. Set Up Alternate Medicare Billing Q Codes in the NDC Library

In NextGen File Maintenance, select Libraries > NDC. The NDC List window opens. From the list, open the default NDC Library as specified in the Libraries > Practice Preferences. The NDC List Maintenance window opens. Use the Filter Criteria section to search for an existing NDC by ID, Description, or associated CPT4 code. Enter or modify the NDC information. After adding the Medicare Billing code information, select OK. Tip: After entering your Q codes and completing your NDC Library updates, select the Default NDC Library in File Maintenance > Practice Preferences to enable the NDC feature for your practice. NDC Fields

Column Description NDC Id Enter the unique 11-digit, 3-segment National Drug Code number. If the number you have is not 11 digits, you must enter the necessary preceding zeros. Note: The system automatically formats the number when the charge is passed to NextGen® Enterprise PM. CPT4 Enter the CPT4 code associated with the NDC. You can enter up to nine characters with two modifiers. Eff Date Enter the date the NDC becomes effective. Note: The system automatically formats the number when the charge is passed to NextGen® Enterprise PM. If you entered an incorrect date and you want to move the cursor to the front of the cell, select the cell, and then select F2. Exp Date Enter the date the NDC ends. Note: The system automatically formats the number when the charge is passed to NextGen® Enterprise PM.
