The American Medical Association (AMA) has determined a unique Admin Code for each manufacturer and each dose of vaccines.
- Open File Maintenance.
- Under Master Files - System, select Vaccine Admin Billing.
The Vaccine Admin Billing List window opens.
- To create the alternatives to be used when recording the unique administration code for each vaccine, select open menu
, and then select New.
If your practice is receiving both the Pfizer® and Moderna® vaccines, four administrative codes must be built into this file.
Note: When recording administration of the vaccines in the Orders module, the system fills the administrative CPT4® code for COVID-19 vaccine based on the CPT code of the vaccine and sequence of dosage and for vaccines with the Administered status.
Note: An alternative option for entering Vaccine Admin codes is to add the CPT code to the vaccine inventory entry. This setup works best if you have different lot numbers for doses. Within the inventory entry in the Vaccine Inventory Master File, the Options tab allows for a default Vaccine Admin CPT4 code to be linked, which overrides the system defaults for the Immunization module.
