Access Educational and Clinical Resources

You can access patient education information, external provider references and other clinical resources from specific web sites that you determine. Note: Before using the Resources feature, you must set up the specific web site URLs inFile Maintenance > Practice Preferences > Resources. Do any one of the following: From the patient's medication list, select a medication. Set Up URLs for Educational and Clinical Resources

When viewing a completed result from the Results tab, you can access educational resources or clinical references for a physician's or clinical staff's use or to give to a patient. This practice preference enables you to set up the URLs for services that your practice subscribes to, such as MedlinePlus Connect. Select File Maintenance > System > Practices. Select to select a practice. Select Preferences. Select Resources. The Resources window opens. Enter the appropriate URLs in the following fields for your practice, if necessary. You can set the URL for the following: External Patient Education Clinical Decision Support External Provider Reference Note: If you set up the URL for External Provider Reference in NextGen® Enterprise EHR User Preferences, that URL overrides the entry in the File Maintenance Orders Module Resources field. Access Clinical Decision Support from the Procedures Module

You can access the Clinical Decision Support resource from the Procedures module. The external resource collects the CPT information for the selected procedure and the patient’s age, age range, and gender. The information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. Open the Procedures module for a patient. Enter a new procedure for the patient, if required. Right-click the procedure, and then select Resources > Clinical Decision Support. The external resource collects CPT4 information for the selected procedure and the patient’s age, age range, and gender. This information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Procedures module for a patient. Enter a new procedure for the patient, if required. Right-click the procedure, and then select Resources > External Patient Education. The application directs you to the external URL set up in File Maintenance. Access Clinical Decision Support from the Medications Module

You can access the Clinical Decision Support resource from the Medications module. The Clinical Decision Support resource collects the RxNorm information for the selected medication and patient’s age, age range, and gender. The information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. Open the Medications module for a patient. Enter a new medication for the patient, if required. Do one of the following: Right-click the medication, and then select Resources > Clinical Decision Support. Select the medication, and then select Resources > Clinical Decision Support from the Medications module toolbar. The application directs you to the external URL set up in File Maintenance. Closing the website returns you to the original patient and location. Note: The Clinical Decision Support resource is also available from the Medication Search window. After you perform a search for a medication, right-click one of the search results and then select Resources > Clinical Decision Support. Par
