LOINC Support and Results Grouping

The Orders module supports the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes universal coding for test results (known as LOINC®) . This feature allows you to see test results for the same type of test on the same line even if the tests were performed at two different labs. By way of example, if one lab says "White Blood Count" in the results message and one returns "WBC" in the results message, the LOINC system has a standard ID for test result components that brings them together on the same line in the Results flow sheet. Important: When viewing results in the Orders module on the results flowsheet, they are grouped per a user defined preference: Lab Short description,Lab Long description or NextGen description. If results are grouped by NextGen description, the result names can be either the clinical name, the consumer name or the long common name. View Lab Results

Before you begin You must ensure that you have the necessary access rights in System Administrator for the Orders Module. For more information on user access rights, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. You can view the results of a patient's laboratory tests. Additionally, you can open the Orders Module and view the order details associated with a result. For more information on the Orders Module, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Orders Module User Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. On the Quick Buttons panel, select Lab Results.The Review Patient Results window opens displaying a report of all completed laboratory tests in a flow sheet format, that includes the date and time of the specimens associated with an order collected,test name, and result for the test name. Results Toolbar

The Results toolbar displays the options to select. The Results toolbar has the following options. You can view the same options when you right-click in the Results grid. Option Description View Results by Provides a selection list to view the results from various tests by lab short description, lab long description, or NextGen compendium description. Resources Provides links to website resources set up in File Maintenance for external patient education, clinical decision support, and external provider reference. Show Only Results Opens only tests that have results. The result values are not grouped by the test or panel name. Customize the Initial Tab View in the Orders Module

When you open the Orders module, the Results tab appears by default. You can set up a user preference to display a different tab as the default. For more information on Orders user preferences, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Layout and Preferences Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Main menu, select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. In the General tab, under the Orders section, in the Initial View list, select one of the following: Results Flowsheet Orders Summary Immun - Chart Immun - Recommendation Immun - Registry Select Apply and then OK. Customizing the Results Flowsheet View

To view order test results in the sequence or detail as your practice prefers, select Short Description, Long Description, and Nextgen Description to display from the Views Labs list. To display lab results in alphabetical order, select the View Results Only check box. To display lab results in categories such as CBC or chem. 7, do not select the View Results Only check box.
