Quick Buttons in NextGen® Enterprise EHR

Quick Buttons Label Description Lab Results Opens the Review Patient Results window displaying the patient's completed laboratory tests' results. The Go to Order button on the Review Patient Results window opens the Orders module displaying the order details associated with a result. Medications Displays a quick list of the patient's active medications when hovered over. Opens the Medications module when selected. View Order History

Before you begin You must ensure that you have the View access right enabled in MODULES > Medical Records > Orders in System Administrator. For more information on user access rights, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. You can view a quick list of the patient's most recent orders, sorted by newest to oldest, and also open the Order Summary tab in the Orders Module for a detailed view of the patient's orders history. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. To view a quick list of the patient's most recent orders, on the Quick Buttons panel, hover over Orders.The Orders table appears displaying the status, ordered date, order item description, and time frame or encounter date, or administration date, depending on the type of the order. Information Displayed in the Care Guidelines Panel

You can view and edit the information displayed in the Care Guidelines panel. NextGen Healthcare recommends you to be familiar with the Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines Paged View template for ease of use. Care Guidelines Paged View Active guidelines listed in the patient guidelines section: Patient's Guidelines section in the left pane lists all care guidelines that are currently being followed for the patient. Also called active guidelines. Badges next to each active guideline display the number of items for that guideline that are due. An item can belong to more than one care guideline. For guideline items listed in the panel: Orderable items have a check box. You must select the check box to place an order for the item. The Place Order button remains disabled until you select a check box. Care Guidelines Paged View Recommended Care items do not have a check box. Instead, they have Goals. Setting Up Care Guidelines for Use

You can set up the care guidelines for a patient and document the details on the Care Guidelines template. In NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the Care Guidelines template is used to handle Health Maintenance and Disease Management functions, including guideline testing and screening, and recommended care. You can open the Care Guidelines template using the Care Guidelines link, in the top navigation tabs of all the main tabbed templates for every specialty. CAUTION: Before using the Care Guidelines template in a clinical setting with patients, content on the template should be carefully reviewed by the individuals who are responsible for maintaining the system. You can update as necessary to meet the needs of the practice. Care Guidelines link is always available on the Care Guidelines template. Enter, Review, and Update Guideline Status

You can document the details for the patient on the Care Guidelines grid view template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select the Care Guidelines link on any of the main template. The Care Guidelines Paged View template opens. In the Care Guidelines panel, select the Grid View link. The Care Guidelines grid view template opens. Select a guideline item from the grid. Details for the care guideline fill in the fields. To edit the changes for information appeared for the guideline, do the following: In the Goal field, enter a goal for the patient or select from the list. Select the Status from the list. Select the Action from the list. Note: For guideline items that are ordered, fills in automatically. The Status and Action fields are read-only. Care Guidelines Select Update. The grid displays the updated Status. Note: To see the goal, select the item in the grid to display details in the fields. Place an Order for an Orderable Guideline Item

You can place an order for an orderable guideline using the Care Guidelines panel. Orderable guideline items that are due, display the date in red font in the Next Due field. A yellow alert icon appears to the left of the date. The Status field appears as due. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select the Care Guidelines link on any of the main template. The Care Guidelines Paged View template opens. Expand the Care Guidelines panel. Review orderable guideline items active for the patient. Items that are due or past due display the date in red font. Items that are due in the future display a date in black font. When you first activate a care guideline, items that are not due at a future date automatically display today’s date by default. To sort guideline items by next due date, you can select the active text Next Due column header. Select the check box to the left of the guideline items you want to order. If there is more than one test description or code associated with the guideline item
