Patient Modes

The following types of patient modes are available: One patient mode enable patients to fill out a particular template (see Turn on Patient Mode for Template Entry) with no access to the remaining functionality. This patient mode provides a full-screen template view similar to Full Screen mode, but locks down the application. The other two patient modes are part of an optional feature that NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers to comply with the specific guidelines provided by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT). Edit and Review modes enable you to handle patient charts in a more efficient way and create a more secure and easily sustainable environment for patients' medical data. This feature is enabled by the Enable CCHIT check box on the NextGen System Info window in the System Administrator application. Saving Template Data

NextGen® Enterprise EHR templates enable you to enter patient information into the available fields in a number of ways. After entering all of the required or available information, you can select Save on the Top toolbar to save your template. NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically saves the template you are working with if another template is launched from it. You can close a template by selecting the Close button on the Top toolbar or the X button. If you did not save your template before closing a template, NextGen® Enterprise EHR opens the Save Template message. Note: If you enter out-of-range data in a numeric/decimal field, an error message appears when you leave the field or try to save the template. You can correct your entry to be within the acceptable range. If you are working with a Group template, the data you enter and save is committed to all of the charts for patients who are members of the specific patient group. Parent topic: Using Templates

View System and Practice Templates

System and Practice templates store any necessary information without relation to either a patient or an encounter. Do one of the following: From the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Menu bar, select File, and then select System\Practice Template. If available, execute a template field trigger for selecting System and Practice templates. The Select Template window opens. To open templates of that type, select the System (default) or Practice tab. In the Show section, select one of the following options: All. All of the available system or practice templates. Preferred. Only your user-defined, preferred list of templates. Yo can use the Templates Preferences feature of NextGen® Enterprise EHR to define the list of preferred templates. Categories. Access the Patient Demographics Template

You can also access the Patient Demographics template from Demographics links on various NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. For more information, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine documentation for the specific template. Open an existing patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For more information, refer to the Person and Patient Lookup in EHR section. Open the Select Template window and select the Demographics tab. Select the Patient Demographics template. For more information on selecting a template, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Templates User Guide for NextGen Enterprise EHR. The Patient Demographics template appears, displaying the selected patient's information. Expand the panels to view the information in them. You can add or edit information in the enabled fields. Using Templates

NextGen® Enterprise EHR uses templates to record and store patient demographic and medical information electronically. Templates provide a simple way to enter medical information and compile patient records. All of the data entered into a template can later be used for statistical reports, document generation, and further review of the patient's information. NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers a set of predefined templates known as the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine and enables the creation of user-defined templates by system administrators. Based on the setup of a specific template or trigger, some workflows may follow those in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR modules (for example, Medications, Procedures, Problems), and some may be specific to the template. Add a Patient from NextGen® Enterprise Template

You can add patient from template trigger to My Lists. You can only add one patient at a time using a template trigger. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On NextGen® Enterprise EHR main toolbar, select Patient. The Patient Lookup window opens. To select a patient, find the patient, and then select Open. Select an encounter on the Encounter History tab or create a new encounter. Select Open Template, and then select the template that contains the triggers to add patient. For more information on adding triggers, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Templates User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select the button which adds patient to My Lists. The Save as My List window opens. Under Update Saved List, From Name, select the required existing My List name. Select Merge to include all patients from both lists or select Override to replace all patients in the existing list. From Share with Workgroups, select one or more work groups. Select OK.
