Set Up Template Preferences

You can configure the default and preferred templates to automatically open the templates for an encounter. You can also configure the workflow after opening an encounter from the Workflow Appointment list. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Preferences window Select the Templates tab. To move a commonly used template in the preferred list, select the template in the Available Templates list and then select the right arrow. The selected template appears in the Preferred Templates list. To select all templates, select the double-right arrow. To set a default template, from the Default Template list, select a template. Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends setting the Home Page (fts_home_page) template as a default template which provides a clinical summary of the patient to the provider. Set up the 3D Look for the Template Fields Preference

The 3D Look check box on the Templates tab is selected by default to enable a 3 dimensional view for read-only template fields. All shared template fields display as a basic 2D representation. NextGen Healthcare suggests you keep the 3D Look on. To disable the 3D Look, clear the 3D Look check box. Parent topic: Templates Preferences

Add a Template to the Preferred Templates List

To make the templates you most frequently use easier to access, you can select a list of preferred templates to display. You must set up separate preferred lists for Medical Records, Demographics, Group, System, Practice, and Case templates. Select the template type from the Template Type list. Medical Records is the default template type in the Template Type list. The available templates for that template type display in the Available Templates pane. Do one of the following: For each template to add as a preferred template, select the template, and select the single-arrow button to add it to the Preferred Templates pane. To move all templates to the Preferred Templates pane, select the double-arrow button. Select Apply. Select OK. Parent topic: Templates Preferences

View System and Practice Templates

System and Practice templates store any necessary information without relation to either a patient or an encounter. Do one of the following: From the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Menu bar, select File, and then select System\Practice Template. If available, execute a template field trigger for selecting System and Practice templates. The Select Template window opens. To open templates of that type, select the System (default) or Practice tab. In the Show section, select one of the following options: All. All of the available system or practice templates. Preferred. Only your user-defined, preferred list of templates. Yo can use the Templates Preferences feature of NextGen® Enterprise EHR to define the list of preferred templates. Categories.
