Performing Encounter Provider or Delegate Signoff Actions

As the encounter provider or the provider's delegate, you can perform the following actions: Initiate or restart multi-user signoff on a pending Provider Approval Queue (PAQ) document. Add or remove signees after a multi-user document is rejected by a signee. Review a document that was rejected by a signee or regenerated by any user, and determine the appropriate action to take. Signee or Delegate Signoff Actions

If you are the designated provider signee or the provider's delegate, you can review and sign off or reject a multi-user document from the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ). As a provider signee, you can also sign off the document from the Encounter History or Categories tab. Sign off a Multi-user Document

You must be a provider to sign off the document from the Encounter History or Categories tab. If you are a delegate for a provider, you must sign off the document from the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ). You cannot reject a document you open from the Encounter History or Categories tab; you must reject it from the PAQ. If you need to revise the document that was sent to you for signoff, the best practice is to regenerate the document from the patient chart using the applicable template. If you edit the current document directly by entering free text, your changes are overwritten if another user regenerates the document. Regenerating the document disables multi-user signoff and removes the document from the PAQ of all signees. The document is returned as a single-user signoff document to the PAQ Pending tab of the encounter provider for review. The encounter provider may initiate multi-user signoff for the regenerated document. Log on to NextGen® Enterprise EHR as a PAQ-enabled provider.

Sign off or Reject a Multi-user Document from PAQ

Do one of the following: Log on to NextGen® Enterprise EHR as a Provider Approval Queue (PAQ)-enabled provider. If you are a provider's delegate, log on with your own credentials, and select the PAQ-enabled provider you are the delegate for in the provider list at the top of the NextGen® Enterprise EHR main window. Open the PAQ Pending tab in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. The most recent item added to the PAQ is selected by default and appears in the viewing pane on the right. If the default item is not the document for signoff, locate the document, and select to open it. You can view the electronic signatures at the bottom of the document. Note: If the encounter provider has not signed off a document that has been rejected by another signee, Sign-off and Sign-off with Actions are disabled, and you cannot sign off the document. Reviewing a PAQ Document Rejected by a Signee

If a signee rejects a document you have sent, the document is returned to your Provider Approval Queue (PAQ) Pending tab. Depending on the reason for rejection and your review of the document, you can do the following: Sign off the existing document and return it to the existing signees Add or remove signees for the document, and restart the multi-user signoff process again. Note: You must be the encounter provider to add or remove signees for the document. Regenerate the document after correcting information in it, and restart the multi-user signoff process again with the same or different signees. Reject the document.
