Set up Provider Preferences

Setting up Provider preferences enables NextGen® Enterprise EHR to automatically enter provider information into the associated fields throughout the application. In the Provider section of the Medical Records tab, select the Ellipsis button . The Select Provider window opens. Do one of the following: Search for a provider by specifying searchable parameters, such as Degree or Name of the provider. Select Search. Double-click the provider in the search results, or select the provider and select OK. To exit without selecting a provider, select Cancel. To search again, select Clear and specify different parameters. To clear the name in the Provider field, on the Preferences window, select Clear. If the name is cleared, at the initial logon, the Select Provider window opens. You can then select a provider to begin using the application. Set up Location Preferences

Setting up Location preferences enables NextGen® Enterprise EHR to automatically enter the location of a selected provider into the associated fields throughout the application. In the Location section of the Medical Records tab, select the Ellipsis button. The Select Location window opens. Do one of the following: Search for a location by name, contact, address, or phone number. Select Search. Double-click the location in the search results, or select the location, and select OK. To exit without selecting a location, select Cancel. To perform another search, select Clear and specify different parameters. To clear the ID and name in the Location field on the Preferences window, select Clear. If the location ID and name are cleared, at the initial logon, the Select Location window opens. Select the Use link between Location and Provider check box in the Medical Records tab to use the provider-location associations from File Maintenance when selecting providers for a location. The Location and Provider fields are not linked by default. When you turn on the link, a message window notifies you that it will be in effect the next time you log on to NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Medical Records Preferences

Use the Medical Records preferences to set up the default provider and location. When the preferences are saved, the selected location and provider are retained the next time when you open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If the location and provider have not been set, when you log on, the Select Location window opens followed by the Select Provider window. These windows also appear if the location and provider are blank when you perform a patient lookup (select the Patient button or Select Patient from the File menu). You can select a different provider for the same location or a different location for the same provider, or change both the location and provider. You can also filter provider selection by the associated location. Select a Provider Associated with a Location

If you enable the Use link between Location and Provider Medical Records preference, follow the workflow below to select a provider. Note: You must select a location and provider to use NextGen® Enterprise EHR. When these fields are filled in, you cannot leave them blank. Log on to NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If you have set up Location and Provider preferences, the location and provider appear in the Top toolbar. No action is needed. If you have not set up a location and provider, the Select Location window opens. Select the location. If the selected location has associated providers, the Select Provider (Filtered by Location) window opens, listing only those providers. Select the provider. The selected provider appears in the Provider field on the Top toolbar. All providers associated with the location are available for selection in the Provider field list.
