Multiple Destinations

You can dispense a patient's medications to multiple destinations at the same time. In some instances, a patient requires some medications be sent to their mail order pharmacy and others sent to their local retail pharmacy. When more than one destination is required, you can select multiple medications and dispense medications to multiple destinations. You route each prescription separately in the Send Prescription window. You can dispense a patient's medications to multiple destinations at the same time if a patient requires some medications be sent by mail order pharmacy and others sent to their local retail pharmacy. All medications (or if no medications designated for the interface transmission were selected) are marked to be submitted to the patient’s preferred pharmacy by default. You can also specify the destination through the right-click menu with the following options: Send to Default Retail Send to Mail Order The following setup is required to enable submission of patient medications to an internal pharmacy or multiple destinations: To enable the ability to send medications to multiple destinations, you must select the Allow Sending eRx to Multiple Destinations check box on the Medication list of the Practice Preferences window. Send Medications to Multiple Destinations

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Medications module. Select a medication. On the Medications toolbar, select Send. Note: If the pharmacy associated with the medication is hidden, a message appears with an option to select another pharmacy. The Send Prescription window opens. Note: For multiple medications, all associated pharmacies must be active before you can send the medications. Optional: To remove a hidden pharmacy message from the Alerts section, select a destination pharmacy that is not hidden in the Destination field or through the Manage Patient Pharmacies link. To fax the prescription, select Force to Fax. To set the selected pharmacy as the default primary pharmacy, select Patient's Primary Default Pharmacy. Set up the patient's primary, secondary, and mail-order default pharmacies using the Manage Patient Pharmacies link. Select Send. Electronically Submit a Prescription

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Medications module. Select a medication. On the medication details toolbar, select Send. Note: If the pharmacy associated with the medication is hidden, a message appears with an option to select another pharmacy. The Send Prescription window opens. For multiple medications, all associated pharmacies must be active before you can send the medications. Only providers who are enrolled in ePrescribing and assigned a Surescripts Provider Identifier (SPI) can submit prescriptions electronically. If you are not enrolled, a message appears indicating that no SPI is allocated. You can contact your system administrator to check your enrollment details and see the Select a Supervising Physician section in File Maintenance. Optional: To remove a hidden pharmacy message from the Alerts section, select a destination pharmacy that is not hidden in the Destination field or through the Manage Patient Pharmacies link. Select the Default Registry for a Location

If your practice has providers in multiple locations, you can select the default registry for each location. CAUTION: If you set up the default registry for a location, the systems uses this preference as the default over the practice default. In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > EHR > Locations. Select and open a location. On the Location Information window, select the Order Module tab. Set up the Prescribing Delegates Preference

The Prescribing Delegates preference enables a provider with a "Self" relationship to assign and manage delegates who can prescribe on his or her behalf. The delegates must have the appropriate rights for print, fax, or eRx. With this preference in place, only that provider and any delegates configured by the provider can send prescriptions associated with that provider name. To enable the user preference, the Practice Preference for prescribing delegates must first be selected in File Maintenance. The Limit Prescribing to Selected Delegates check box is then selected by default and the Manage Delegates button is enabled. If the Practice Preference is not selected, only a provider with a "Self" relationship can prescribe with his or her own name. The user preference in NextGen® Enterprise EHR is disabled. Note: Users who have the security right to add medications to the module can continue to do so using any provider name regardless of the Practice Preference or user preference setting
