Settings for First Time Use of the Orders Management Console

To use the Orders Management Console, you start by selecting your desktop button, or select Orders Management Console from the NextGen application launcher. You are asked for a user log on. You should also choose your Enterprise and Practice. When you use the Orders Management Console the configuration options need to be set up (select Settings on the bottom left on the screen). When you use the Orders Management Console for the first time, if the required settings are incomplete, a warning is displayed. Note: : This warning is displayed every time the Orders Management Console is started with undefined or incomplete settings. When you select OK, you are automatically presented with the configuration Orders Management Console window where you enter the Settings to run the Compendium Management program. Importing Compendiums or Updates with the Orders Management Console

After you have configured the initial settings for the Orders Management Console, you can load or update a test order compendium. You must import compendiums to make them available to the Orders module; the NextGen database does not contain any compendiums initially. When running the Orders Management Console, the sequence in which you process the vendors is enforced by the program. You get an error message if you try to load a vendor list before NextGen or LOINC. You can load the compendiums in the following order: NextGen LOINC Vendors (for example, Labcorp, Veredigm labs) If you have updated the NextGen compendium file, and there are no changes to the LOINC code, you update the vendor compendium. The initial load and any updates come from the Web Server URL defined in your settings. Update NextGen Test Code in a Compendium

You can update the NextGen Test associated with a test in a compendium. Open Orders Management Console. Open the download of a compendium. Select the down arrow next to the test code and select a code from the list of similar tests. Select Save or Save Modified. The new test code is saved. Note: In the Order Test Codes page of the Labcorp compendium, the New NextGen Test (Code) column displays the new test description with code, and the Current NextGen Test (Code) column displays the existing description with code from the NextGen database. Orders Management Console

The Orders Management Console is used for loading lab and radiology test compendiums into NextGen® Enterprise EHR. It is accessed through the application launcher. The Orders Management Console can also be used to update test compendiums that are loaded into your NextGen® Enterprise EHR database. The importing and updating of vendor specific compendiums is based on NextGen® Enterprise EHR's support of the compendium for that specific vendor, for example Labcorp. The current version of NextGen® Enterprise EHR can only be used to add and update the NextGen, LOINC, Quest compendiums, and Labcorp compendiums. Order NextGen Test Compendium Master File

The Order NextGen Test Compendium includes a list of all lab and radiology tests defined by NextGen. Before setting up NextGen Compendium, your system administrator must run the Order Management Console. The Order Management Console maps NextGen compendium codes to individual testing entity tables (such as Labcorp) that a practice uses to process tests. If your practice uses other compendiums, you must perform this process manually. By mapping the NextGen Compendium codes to Order Test codes (vendor compendiums), NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables users to order based on the NextGen compendium codes; and, therefore, ensuring the appropriate mapped vendor code is sent across the interface. This is particularly important when ordering from a template, since the templates are created using NextGen compendium codes. LOINC Support and Results Grouping

The Orders module supports the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes universal coding for test results (known as LOINC®) . This feature allows you to see test results for the same type of test on the same line even if the tests were performed at two different labs. By way of example, if one lab says "White Blood Count" in the results message and one returns "WBC" in the results message, the LOINC system has a standard ID for test result components that brings them together on the same line in the Results flow sheet. Important: When viewing results in the Orders module on the results flowsheet, they are grouped per a user defined preference: Lab Short description,Lab Long description or NextGen description. If results are grouped by NextGen description, the result names can be either the clinical name, the consumer name or the long common name.
