Open the SIG Builder. In the Sig list, select a SIG from any one of the following categories: Most Used (if available) The Most Used Sig category is assigned by the number of times providers select that sig for the medication. Enter all required medication information. Perform any one of the following: Hover over or select the Add Sig link. Select the automatically populated SIG to change it. Hover over or select the Edit Sig link. The availability of an automatically populated SIG in the advanced SIG builder depends on the information provided by the third party, First Databank. You must add a SIG (dosage instructions) before prescribing a medication to a patient. The SIG builder enables you to select a SIG from a list of existing SIG, build a custom SIG for a medication, or edit the existing SIG. Remove a Lab Test from a Custom List

You can remove a lab test from a provider’s custom list. On the IORTS Config Orders system template, expand the Provider Custom Lab Tests panel. In the Provider field above the right grid, select the desired provider. All tests currently in the provider’s custom list appear in the right grid. Select the desired test. Click Delete. Select a Pediatric SIG Code

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and open the medication module. Select a medication. Enter the required medication information. Do one of the following: Hover over Add Sig. Select Add Sig. Select the automatically populated SIG Code. The most commonly used Pediatric SIG from First Data Bank appears. Pediatric SIG Clear the Common Sigs check box to display all available SIG codes. Available SIG codes If no pediatric SIG Code for the selected medication exists, select Calculator to display the Pediatric Dosing Calculator window. Note: The pediatric calculator may be unavailable for multi-ingredient medications being prescribed to a pediatric patient. Select one or more of the following: All Once 2 Times 3 Times 4 Times Select a SIG Code or manually build a Pediatric SIG Code. The selected pediatric SIG is automatically assigned to the selected medication. SIG Code

The SIGs master file contains a complete list of all medication dosage instructions. This master file is usually populated during installation; data initially stored in the master file is dependent on the original NextGen database. You can enter additional SIG Codes. To add or modify a SIG code: Do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu , and then select Open. You can also double-click open the item. Note: You can enter an asterisk ( * ) to list all the records. The Add/Modify SIG Information window displays. Field Description Key Enter a standard abbreviation for the dosage instructions. If you are adding a new SIG Code, enter a unique key. Description Enter a full description. Note Enter additional information. If you want to hide the item in the list, select the Hide check box.
