Release an Order

Open your custom practice template with an Orders Management order control. On the Filters bar, select Due. The Orders Management grid for the Due filter opens. Select the row for each order to release. On the Due filter Top toolbar, do one of the following: Select Release. To select additional actions to perform with the release, select the appropriate option from the Release list. The Release Order window displays the order (or orders) with the options to Send and Print. To update an order before it is released, select Update Requisition. A green check mark appears to the left of the order on the Release Order window. Then the Update Order window opens. Enter the required changes. To send an order, select the Send check box. To print the order to your default printer, select the Print check box. Select Process. The Batch Release window opens, displaying the order description and the action in progress. Mark Future and Recurring Orders for Auto Release Using the Orders Management Order Control in a Custom Practice Template

Using an Orders Management Control order control in a custom practice template, you can mark future and recurring orders to be automatically released for one patient or multiple patients for a practice. Open your custom practice template with an Orders Management order control. To mark an order for Auto Release for one patient, from the Orders Management Control practice template top toolbar, select the appropriate patient, right-click the order and select Auto Release. To mark orders for Auto Release for multiple patients, select the appropriate patients, right-click the orders and select Auto Release. Note: You can change a patient's Auto Release status (that is, "mark" as Yes or No) by selecting Auto Release. This overrides the current Auto Release status, even if it was defaulted when the Future or Recurring order was selected for processing. If you select multiple patients, the Auto Release window displays the selected orders that were successfully released and those that failed.

Process or Release a Future or Recurring Order

On the Orders Summary tab, select a future or recurring order. Select the Scheduled filter. To release an order, select Release and the appropriate option from the Release list. For example, to release and print the order, select Release and then select Print from the list. To mark an order for Auto Release, do one of the following: From the Orders Summary tab, right-click the order and select Auto Release. Select the order and select Auto Release from the Order Summary tool bar. Note: You can change a patient's Auto Release status (to Yes or No) by selecting Auto Release. This selection overrides the current Auto Release status, even if was not defaulted when the future or recurring order was selected for processing. The system updates the Auto Release indicator to Yes. For example, a patient needs to come in at a later date. Set Up Auto Release Practice Preferences

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. Double-click your practice. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. Select Orders Module from the Preference List. The Orders tab opens. The Auto Release options display on the All tab. Select the Auto Release Task Group to receive the notification that the order has been auto released, if necessary. Select your practice's Auto Release Option to use the Auto Release function from the list: Opt-in. Select this option if your practice chooses to use the Auto Release function. Note: If you select this Opt-in option, when creating Future and Recurring orders the Automatically release this order when it is due check box is enabled. However, you must select the check box to indicate that the specific order is be auto released. Opt-out. Select this option if your practice does not choose to use the Auto Release function. Set up the Orders Auto Release Utility

To set up the Auto Release criteria for your practice, on the Auto Release Form window, select the Plus + sign. The Details window opens. For the Instance Name, enter your practice's user-defined name. For the Process Time, enter the time the system releases the future and recurring orders. The system releases the future and recurring orders based on the due date selected when the order was created in the Orders module, and according to the number of days specified in File Maintenance Auto Release Orders Due In practice preference. For example, if you set up 3 days in the Auto Release Orders Due In field, the system releases the order 3 days before the scheduled due date. In the Practices section, select the practices for this Instance. Select Add. The Auto Release Form window displays the added instance (that is, the practice's user-defined name) and the process time. Select Activate Selected Instance. The Security Log On window opens. Auto Release Practice Preferences

You can set up Future and Recurring Orders to be released according to specific time frames and schedules. These Auto Release practice preferences enable the system to automatically release the orders according to the parameters you set up. The Auto Release function is optional. You can set up the following practice preferences: Identify the NextGen® Enterprise task group to be notified when an auto release operation completes for the practice. "Opt-in" or "Opt-out" of using the Auto Release function. Set up when Future or Recurring orders schedules expire. Note: The default is 15 months. However, you can change the preference default. The number of days that the system automatically releases the Recurring and Future orders before the scheduled due date.
