This action does the following:
Restarts the HIE Gateway.
Reconnects to the external systems available for import and export.
Reconnects to
NextGen® Share
and
NextGen® Share Carequality Service
, if available.
Refreshes data on all tabs in the Data Share module.
To refresh only the
Search History
or
Export History
pane, select
Refresh
at the bottom of each pane.

Configuring the Environment for the Data Share Module
You can use System Administrator to configure global settings for the Data Share module that control Whether to use the enhanced or original version of the Data Share module. The original version is specific toNextGen® Share Carequality Service, whereas the enhanced version supports a variety of endpoints in addition to Carequality. Choose the HIE Gateway Instance You can use System Administrator to specify which HIE Gateway instance is used by the Data Share module and the Medical Summary Utility. Configure User Access Rights You can use System Administrator to specify which user groups are allowed to run the Data Share module and which actions they can perform. Using the Data Share Module to Import and Export Clinical Data
You can use the Data Share module, a feature of NextGen® Enterprise EHR, to import and export Continuity of Care Document (CCD) and Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA) files to and from designated folders and exchange clinical information with other providers, patients, and institutions such as regional health information organizations (RHIOs) and the Health Information Systems Program (HISP). This Data Share module serves the same function as the Medical Summary Utility but provides a simpler user interface and superior performance. The Medical Summary Utility continues to be available, but its use is deprecated. An earlier version of the Data Share module provided access only to the NextGen® Share Carequality Service. The old version is still available for the convenience of existing users. Open the Data Share Module
Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and open a patient. The Quick Buttons panel, the Encounter History and Categories panel opens. left toolbar and Encounter History panel To conserve screen space, select the collapse icon. The Encounter History and Categories panel closes. On the Quick Buttons panel, select the Data Share icon. Data Share The Data Share tab opens in the main pane. Data Share Module Note: If you disabled the Data Share > Use New Data Share Module Universal Preference in System Administrator, then the old version of the Data Share module opens. The old version provides access only to NextGen® Share Carequality Service. Select the Data Share Module Version
On releases before Enterprise 8, the original Data Share module provided access only to NextGen® Share Carequality Service. Starting on Enterprise 8, the enhanced Data Share module supports a variety of endpoints for imports and exports, in addition to Carequality. However, the original and more limited Data Share module continues to be available for the convenience of users who are familiar with that interface. The original Data Share module is deprecated and subject to deimplementation in a future release. For further information about the original Data Share module, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the User Guide forNextGen®Carequality Service. When you select the Data Share button, NextGen® Enterprise EHR opens the enhanced Data Share module by default. Choose the HIE Gateway Instance
You can use the HIE Gateway Discovery Server URL universal preference to specify which HIE Gateway is used by the Data Share module (and the Medical Summary Utility). When you export documents with these tools, the Destination list includes external systems only from that HIE Gateway instance. You can specify the HIE Gateway instance as follows: Open System Administrator. Select View > Universal Preferences > General. Enter the HIE Gateway Discovery Server URL. This URL should match the HieGateway Discovery Service URL value displayed on the HIE Gateway configuration webpages for the desired instance.
