Phone and Fax Number Validation Information

The following rules are used to validate phone and fax numbers:

• Must be 10 digits or longer
• Cannot have more than eight sequential digits
• Cannot have same digit code and exchange code
• Cannot contain the string 5551212
• Cannot start with a zero or 1 in the area code
• Cannot contain a 11 in the second and third digits of the area code, for example, 911
• Cannot contain seven or more repeated digits
• Must contain x in the 11th position, if number is longer than 10 digits
• Must not contain hyphens or special characters
