Set up Patient Portal Trigger

The Patient Portal action launches windows at run time that enable you to: Set up an account for a patient on the NextGen® PxP Portal website. Schedule the future delivery of a message to a patient enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal. After a message has been scheduled, you can review and edit or delete it, if necessary. NextGen® PxP Portal is a secure Internet portal that enables patients to communicate with providers, request appointments, request prescription refills, review test results, complete online forms, view documents and statements, and access health reference information. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. Select the Patient Portal action. The Patient Portal window opens. Enroll a Patient in NextGen® PxP Portal

If the Patient Portal trigger action is Enrollment, you can set up a NextGen® PxP Portal account for the selected patient through NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For more information on the enrollment process, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest NextGen® PxP Portal Provider Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Ask your system administrator which NextGen® Enterprise EHR template and field to use. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select the template that contains the Patient Portal trigger, and then select OK. For more information, see Select a Template.. Select the Patient Portal trigger on the applicable field. The following actions are triggered depending on the patient status: If the patient status is Not Enrolled and all mandatory patient information fields are filled, a NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment invitation email is sent to the patient. Schedule a Delayed NextGen® PxP Portal Message

If the Patient Portal trigger action is Schedule Messages, you can schedule a message for future delivery to a patient enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal. This feature is available only when you compose a message or send a draft. Scheduled messages are stored in the Patient Portal > Communications > Scheduled folder in the Workflow module. Note: If chart messages are saved to a file location, the user account that runs the NextGen® Queue Processing Service needs to have write access to that file location. For more information on delayed message scheduling, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest NextGen® PxP Portal Provider Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Ask your system administrator which NextGen® Enterprise EHR template and field to use. Open NextGen® PxP Portal Inbox

You can open the NextGen® PxP Portal message window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR Workflow module. Open the Workflow module. The Workflow window opens. Select the Patient Portal tab. Note: The Patient Portal tab does not appear if the NextGen® PxP Portal license has expired. The Patient Portal inbox opens. Select the user list, and then select the provider or user that you are a delegate for. The Patient Portal inbox opens for the selected provider or user. Enroll a Patient in NextGen® PxP Portal

Before you begin Ensure that the patient portal must setup in File Maintenance and has a valid NextGen® PxP Portal license for your practice. If the patient is not enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal, you can send an enrollment invitation email through NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For more information on NextGen® PxP Portal, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest NextGen®PxP Portal Provider Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. To invite the patient for NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment, do one of the following: On the Patient Information Card (PIC), select Enroll Now next to the Not enrolled in Patient Portal indicator. On the main toolbar, select File > Patient Portal > Enroll Now. NextGen® Enterprise EHR sends the patient an enrollment invitation email and a text message notification about the invitation. Viewing Patient Portal Enrollment Status

You can view the NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment status on the Add Person Information and Add Patient Information windows in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM if the practice uses NextGen® PxP Portal. You can select the NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment status icon to open the Patient Portal Enrollment window.
