View Medication Version

Drug and Medication Data

The drug and medication data available in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, including medication name, dosage, National Drug Code (NDC) ID, interactions, and patient education information, is provided by the third-party provider, First Databank, Inc. NextGen Healthcare provides regular medication updates available for download from NextGen Healthcare Success Community. You must ensure that your drug and medication database is up-to-date. If you open the Medications module in NextGen® Enterprise EHR when the drug and medication database is not updated for 90 days or more, the Medication Module Drug Database Warning message window warns you that the drug database might be out of date. About Medication Update

NextGen® Enterprise EHR receives immunization information from First Databank, a third-party vendor. This content is typically released on a monthly basis, but is accelerated to include the codes of newly approved vaccines, if available. The first monthly package containing COVID-19 vaccine code sets was released in December 2020. New codes that are added in anticipation of potential vaccine availability under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), are available on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) webpage. Note: To ensure that your system contains the latest COVID-19 vaccine content, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Medication Update. Update the Adherence of a Medication

You can modify a patient's adherence to medication. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Intake template. Open the Medications Review template. Select a medication in the Medication Review grid. NextGen® Enterprise EHR fills Medication, Sig desc, and Adherence in respective fields below the Medication Review grid. Select Adherence, and select the comment from the list. Select Update. After you complete the medication reviews, you can select the Manual medication reconciliation completed check box to reconcile the medications, and enter any additional details in the Reconciliation Type panel. Review Patient Medication Allergy

In compliance with the requirements of the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT), NextGen® Enterprise EHR supports review of patient's medication allergies. Open the Medication Allergies module. The Medication Allergies module displays the current review status for all listed medication allergies. Select Review. NextGen® Enterprise EHR displays the name of the person who reviewed all listed allergies and lists the date and time of the most current allergy review. Parent topic: Medication Allergies Module

Open the Medication Review Template

You can access the Medication Review template to review the medication. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Intake template, expand the Medications panel. To open the Medication Review template, select Reconcile. Review Medications Manually You can manually review the medications details that are taken by a patient for adherence to the prescribed medicines. Update the Adherence of a Medication You can modify a patient's adherence to medication. Review Medications Electronically You can electronically review the medications details that are taken by a patient for adherence to the prescribed medicines.
