Medication Status

Medication Status	Status means that medication was
Active	Prescribed to a patient, who is actively using the medication.
Inactive	Prescribed to the patient, however the patient is not taking the medication at the present time.
Pending	Prescribed to the patient with the Start Date set in the future.
Temporary	Prescribed to the patient and is displayed on the medication list, but was not saved yet.
Deleted	Deleted. If applicable, a Cancel Rx message was sent to the pharmacy to ensure the medication is not dispensed to the patient.

Delete a Medication

You can delete any medication that was prescribed to a patient. Depending on your system settings, you may be required to select a reason that explains why you are deleting a previously prescribed medication. When applicable, the system sends a CancelRx notification to the pharmacy to ensure the prescription is not unintentionally dispensed to the patient. In the medications list, highlight the medication that you want to delete. Select Delete. A message informs you that a CancelRx message may be sent to the pharmacy and a deletion reason may be required. Select Yes to confirm deleting the selected medication. If deletion reasons are required for previously prescribed medications, the Deletion Reason Selection window opens. Deletion Reason Selection Select a reason for the deletion, and then select OK. If the medication was previously sent to a pharmacy and the prescriber is enrolled in the Cancel Rx service level, the Cancel Medication window displays a message to inform you a CancelR

Stopping Medications

You are able to stop a medication that was prescribed to a patient. When you stop an active medication, the Medications module adds the current date as the stop date and then moves the medication to the Inactive section. Cancel an Electronic Prescription In the Medications module, you can cancel a prescribed medicine and send a cancellation message to a participating pharmacy. Tracking the eRx Status The eRx Status and Dispense History windows enable you to track the status of cancelled electronic prescriptions. No Active Medications Indicator

The No Active Medications check box is selected when the patient in context has no active medications in their chart. When a new medication is prescribed, the check box is automatically cleared. When an active medication is deactivated (either manually or by surpassing the stop date), stopped, or deleted and there are no active medications listed for the patient, the No Active Medications check box is selected again. View RxFill History

You can review the full history of prescription fill status notifications. The history enables you to see details about the medications the patient has picked up from the pharmacy. In the medication grid, right-click a medication, and then select RxFill History. The RxFill History window opens and displays all successful RxFill status messages for the selected medication. You can also view the RxFill history by select the RxFill History link in the Medications module. Select a row in the Historical grid to view the details for the RxFill status message. Additional details appear in the bottom half of the window. A RxFill Notification Change History link has been added in the RxFill History window to capture all changes related to RxFill notifications. This allows a provider to see the prescriber and time the RxFill notifications were changed for any given medication. Prescription Status

The Medications module displays the prescription status information for the selected medication above the medication name. Inactive medication was prescribed in a different parctice The following status (or any combination) could be displayed: Medication is Inactive Medication Was Prescribed In A Different Practice Encounter is Locked for This Medication Medication Has Been Dispensed Depending on the prescription status of the medication, you may not be able to renew the selected medication.
