View Patient Appointments

Before you begin You must ensure that you have an active license for NextGen® Enterprise PM. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR Appointments Quick Button, you can view patients future and past appointments based on configuration. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. On the Quick Buttons panel, hover over Appointments.The Appointments table appears displaying the configuration message, the patient's future and recent past appointments and date and time, status, resource or provider, location and reason columns. When the View by Resource is selected in the Inbox module of NextGen® Enterprise EHR, the resource column appears in the Appointments table; similarly, when the View by Provider is selected, the provider column appears. Note: The patient's future appointments appear first on the Appointments table, highlighted in bold text, followed by recent past appointments. Patient Appointments

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR Appointments Quick Button, you can view five future and 10 past appointments for a selected patient by default. You can view up to 15 future and 15 past appointments based on configuration. The Appointments table provides information on the following: Appointment date and time Status (Kept, Chart Complete, No Show) Provider/Resource name Provider's location Reason for appointment The count appearing on the Appointments button indicates the total number of future appointments scheduled for a patient in the enterprise regardless of configurations. The icon indicates that the patient does not have any scheduled future appointments. If the scheduling source is View by Provider, the count indicates only the appointments created in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If the scheduling source is View by Resource, the count indicates only the appointments created in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Note: The appointments' count is not available for external practice management systems.

You can customize the display of appointments in the Appointments Quick Button at the practice level with System Administrator rights in File Maintenance. Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files, select EHR, and then select Application Appearance. The EHR Application Appearance window opens displaying the preview of the Patient Information Card (PIC), Quick Buttons, Encounter History, and Categories for the Default configuration. Select the required configuration, and then select Edit. The Edit EHR Application Appearance Configuration window opens. Select the Quick Button tab. In the Appointments row, select .The future and past appointments view configuration window opens displaying the default values for future and past appointments are 5 and 10, respectively. To change the default number of appointments, select the required values from Future and Past appointments list. Manage User-Level Configurations of Quick Buttons

Before you begin Ensure that you have the necessary user-level permissions to view and modify buttons on the Quick Buttons panel. You can show or hide buttons on the Quick Buttons panel and also re-arrange their sequence to your preference. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. On the Quick Buttons panel, select .The My Quick Button Settings window opens. To add a button to the Quick Buttons panel, select Select Buttons, select the button to add from the list, and then select Apply. To remove a button on the Quick Buttons panel, do one of the following: Select corresponding to the button to remove, and then select Apply. Select Select Buttons, clear the check box for the button to remove, and then select Apply. To change the order of the buttons, select and drag the buttons to the preferred location, and select Apply. To restore the practice preference settings, select Reset to Practice Settings. Create an Appointment

NextGen recommends to create and manage appointments in NextGen® Enterprise PM, not in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, if you use NextGen® Enterprise PM as your scheduling source. Appointments created in NextGen® Enterprise EHR are not communicated to NextGen® Enterprise PM. You can create an appointment in NextGen® Enterprise EHR only if you have the View by Provider display setting enabled. If you select View by Resource, you cannot create an appointment in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You may also create an appointment in NextGen® Enterprise EHR if you use a third-party scheduling application instead of NextGen® Enterprise PM. You can create an appointment in the Appointments tab of the Workflow module. You can create a custom status for the appointment. Select a patient. Note: You must select a patient to create an appointment in the Appointments tab. Access the Appointments tab. Select New in the toolbar.
