Focus Function

The @Focus function enables you to assign a value to or from the last edited field on a template to have focus. This function is typically used on an Assign Field Value trigger on a button or active image field. For example, this function can be used with a Vital Signs number pad that assigns values to height, weight, and temperature. You can select this function in the following ways: You can select @Focus from the Assign To field list on the Assign Field Value trigger window. You can select @Focus Last Edit Field with Focus in the Functions list to include @Focus in the value calculation for an Assign Field Value trigger, the condition for any trigger, or the function body for a macro function. CAUTION: You cannot select or assign data from a Memo-type data entry field if it was the last field to have focus. If you set up a @Focus function, and the Memo field was the last edited field, the focus does not go to that field. Parent topic: Functions

Triggers

A trigger is an event that causes an action within a field on a template. For example, a picklist appears when a data entry (edit) field is accessed, or another template opens when a button is selected. Some of the actions can be set up to take place only if certain predefined conditions are met. Triggers may use variables, functions, or macro functions. Template triggers are the most integral and vital element of Template Editor. Templates can be used without triggers, but using triggers improves the efficiency of templates. You are encouraged to use triggers as much as possible. Add a Trigger Through Edit Function

For other ways to add a trigger or copy an existing trigger, see General Trigger Setup and Copy a Trigger. Follow steps 1-3 in Change a Trigger. Select Add. Change a Trigger

You can edit the field, event, action, or condition for an existing trigger. The edit function also provides a quick way for you to add a trigger based on an existing, simple trigger. This capability cannot be used for certain triggers that are tied to cross-reference tables (for example, the Assign Field Value trigger tied to the trig_mf_xref table). To open the Triggers window, do one of the following: Right-click anywhere on the template, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. On the Main toolbar, select Triggers. From the View menu, select Triggers. Select a specific field within the template. Select Triggers, select View > Triggers, or right-click the selected field, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. Note: The Copy and Paste buttons appear on the Triggers window only when you select a specific field on the template. In the Triggers window, select the trigger you want to change. Information entered for the selected trigger appear in the Trigger, Condition,
