Growth Chart Generation from the NextGen® Enterprise EHR File Menu

You can generate the following growth charts for a pediatric patient from the NextGen® Enterprise EHR File menu for either NextGen® Enterprise EHR custom templates or NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates. You do not need to open the template. Age vs. BMI Age vs. Height Age vs. Weight Age vs. Head Circumference Weight for Length Each growth chart shows the percentile where the patient's measurement falls in relation to pediatric peers, represented by a red dot. For information on the available age ranges, data sources, and percentiles graphed, see Standard Growth Charts, Premature Growth Charts, Turner Syndrome Growth Charts, and Down Syndrome Growth Charts. Generating Pediatric Growth Charts

NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables you to generate age-based growth charts. Percentiles on a growth chart are used to compare a pediatric patient to other children of the same gender and age. The percentiles are shown as lines drawn in curved patterns. In addition to standard growth charts, specialized growth charts are available for Turner syndrome, Down syndrome, and premature patients. You can generate growth charts from NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine or NextGen® Enterprise EHR custom templates. You can also select a growth chart type from the NextGen® Enterprise EHR File menu for a specific NextGen® Enterprise EHR custom or NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine template. After you generate a growth chart, you can adjust the plot, customize the display, and save and print the graph. To begin using growth charts, you must have a patient open in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Growth Charts

Growth charts depict a patient growth up to 20 years of age in relation to weight, height, weight for length, head circumference, and Body Mass Index (BMI). This type of graph is used by pediatric doctors to record growth of a child. Growth charts can be generated from NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine and custom NextGen® Enterprise EHR templates and have specific preferences and options. Generate a Growth Chart from the File Menu

Before you begin Make sure that you have set up Graphing preferences that correspond to the template and field values that data are graphed from. To generate a specialty growth chart, set up the applicable preference for Gestational Age (premature patients), Down Syndrome Indicator, or Turner Syndrome Indicator. To graph a growth chart using a measurement date instead of an encounter date, enter the Measurement Date Column preference. You can also set up preferences to Print Patient Name, Print Patient Date of Birth, and Print Chart Print Time on the generated growth chart. Open the pediatric patient's history in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the File menu, select Graph, Growth Charts. Select one of the following: BMI Height Weight Head Circum Weight for Length NextGen® Enterprise EHR plots the graph for the selected growth chart using template data from all of the patient's encounters. Growth Chart Measurements

You can document measurements using the age-based Vital Signs templates for pediatric patients (vital_signs_peds_over2y and vital_signs_peds_under2y). You can access these templates in the following ways: From the Record Vital Signs template (VS_WA_Std). From different specialty Home and Office Visit templates. Directly from the Intake and SOAP tab templates of the Advanced template set and the Foundation template set. Note: You can customize settings for alerts for out-of-range pediatrics vital signs values using the ngkbm_vital_signs practice template. Premature growth charts are generated when the Gestational age at birth field has a value of less than 37 weeks and a gestational age of up to 50 weeks. You can enter the gestational age on the Pediatric Under 2 Years Vital Signs template or the Pregnancy/Birth History template. The best practice is to add the gestational age in the Pregnancy/Birth History template prior to documenting the vital signs of the baby. The Pediatric Under 2
