Growth Chart Measurements

You can document measurements using the age-based Vital Signs templates for pediatric patients (vital_signs_peds_over2y and vital_signs_peds_under2y). You can access these templates in the following ways: From the Record Vital Signs template (VS_WA_Std). From different specialty Home and Office Visit templates. Directly from the Intake and SOAP tab templates of the Advanced template set and the Foundation template set. Note: You can customize settings for alerts for out-of-range pediatrics vital signs values using the ngkbm_vital_signs practice template. Premature growth charts are generated when the Gestational age at birth field has a value of less than 37 weeks and a gestational age of up to 50 weeks. You can enter the gestational age on the Pediatric Under 2 Years Vital Signs template or the Pregnancy/Birth History template. Generate Growth Charts on the Vital Signs Template

You can select the Growth Chart link on the Pediatric Vital Signs template to view a set of up to four growth charts at a time in a single window. The set may include growth charts for height, weight, head circumference, and BMI. Before you begin Before you generate a growth chart, you must set up the appropriate graphing preferences in System Administrator. Pediatric Vital Signs

You can document and manage the vital signs of a pediatric patient in the Vital Signs panel. You can add multiple vital signs for a patient during an encounter. The most recent value for each vital sign appears in the corresponding area in the grid. Vital Signs The Add button in the Vital Signs panel opens one of the following template based on the patient's age. The Pediatric Under 2 Years Vital Signs template for patients under 2 years of age. The template includes the Gestational age at birth fields to enter the patient's gestational age in weeks and days. The days field accepts values between 0 to 6. The template notifies you with an instructional text message when the Fenton Growth Chart has been used for the calculation of the percentiles. The display of the percentiles is based on the data in the Gestational age at birth field with a value less than 37 weeks and a gestational birth age of up to 50 weeks. Premature Growth Charts

Premature growth charts are available for age versus height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and head circumference, and weight versus length. They are automatically generated for a patient with a gestational age of less than 37 weeks at birth and a current gestational age of up to 50 weeks. An age adjustment plot can be used when the patient is older than 50 weeks. Premature growth charts use data from the 2013 Fenton Growth Chart study to graph the percentiles: 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, and 95. The growth charts display Fenton 2013 Preterm Growth Chart in the title. For example, the title for a head circumference growth chart for a premature girl is Age vs. Head Circumference (Fenton 2013 Preterm Growth Chart, Girls). Pediatric Growth Charts

NextGen® Enterprise enables you to record a pediatric patient's body measurements and graph growth charts on the measurements using the standard NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine pediatric templates. The growth chart uses data from all the patient encounters. For a premature patient, you can record prematurity and the gestational age on the Birth History template and the preterm growth charts are used for the patient. The Growth Chart link is available on the Record Vital Signs and the age-based Pediatric Vital Signs templates. You can also generate growth charts from the File menu on NextGen® Enterprise. Different growth charts available in NextGen® Enterprise include BMI, height, weight, head circumference, and weight vs. length graphs. You can indicate if the patient has down syndrome or turner syndrome on the Birth History template. Once selected, the values carry forward to future encounters, then for the patient, the Growth Chart link opens the specialized growth charts for turner
