Before you begin
To be able to fax patient documents, the access rights for must be enabled in the System Administrator application.
You can fax one or more patient documents directly to a selected destination.
- Generate a new patient document, or open an existing patient document.
- From the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Menu bar, select File and select Fax.
Note: This option appears on the File menu only when you have a patient document in view.
- If you have not previously saved your document, the Save Document window opens. Select OK.
The
Send Fax window opens.
- Select Destination criteria.
The
Send Fax window defaults the Destination criteria based on the last selection made for the type of the item being faxed. For example, if you last faxed a medication to a specific pharmacy, the next time you try to fax a medication, the Destination is automatically set to
Pharmacy.
The following criteria are available: Employer, Laboratory, Location, Patient Physicians, Performing Entity, Payer, Pharmacy, Physician, and Provider.
- If you select Patient Physicians, the list of providers associated with the selected patient appears. Select any of the providers you want to receive the fax.
- Enter the company.
The
Company box displays the last selected company and company information, if applicable. If the company information is not filled in or is incorrect, you can:
- Do one of the following:
- Select the Dial "1" for long distance check box.
- Specify your own dialing rules.
- To include a cover page, select the Cover Page check box.
- Enter any additional information in the text box.
- Select Fax.
- To fax a group of patient documents, use the Custom Print\Fax function in NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
