Migrating Providers to Surescripts 2017071-Compatible Messaging Standards

To successfully ePrescribe after upgrading to NextGen® Enterprise EHR8, providers enrolled with the Surescripts Retail network must meet all requirements for ePrescribing. This utility helps validate providers to ensure they meet these requirements and helps you resolve any issues that may exist. When you have completed the validation and resolved all issues, you must ensure that your enrolled providers are migrated to the Surescripts 2017071-compatible messaging standard by submitting the changes to Surescripts. Note: If you are a NextGen Healthcare hosted client, you must contact NextGen Healthcare Support for assistance to complete the processes required to migrate your providers. The ePrescribing Provider Migration utility only needs to run if you are upgrading from any version other than 5.9.2020.1. If you are upgrading from a NCPDP 2017071 compliant versions (5.9.2020.1), the ePrescribing Provider Migration utility was ran when upgrading to 5.9.2020.1 and prescribers are already

ePrescribing Medications

The ePrescribing feature enables you to electronically prescribe and submit prescriptions directly to selected pharmacies. NextGen Healthcare has collaborated with several third-party ePrescribing providers, such as Surescripts® and MediMedia®, to integrate the ePrescribing feature. These third parties provide medication data and communicate with certified pharmacies. Note: User-defined medications are not supported with Surescripts. If you integrate the ePrescribing feature, it enables you to check a patient's eligibility, electronically communicate with a pharmacy and submit a patient's prescriptions, and to authorize or decline refill requests. In addition, the ePrescribing feature enables you to search for medications using the formulary search and check a patient's medication history. Resolve Issues

You must resolve all issues to use ePrescribing with NextGen® Enterprise EHR, 8 and to migrate to the Surescripts 2017071 compatible standard. All potential enrollment issues must be resolved before using ePrescribing. Log on to File Maintenance. From Master Files, select System > EHR. Select Providers. The Providers List window opens. Double-click the provider. The Modify Provider Information window opens. Select the appropriate tab and add or modify the information as necessary to resolve all potential issues associated with Surescripts migration to the latest standard. Select the ePrescribing tab. Ensure that the provider has all applicable Retail Service Levels selected. In the Networks section, select open menu . Select Retail > Enroll. Modify Provider Information The ERx Message Submission confirmation window opens. Select OK. The values are added for the Retail settings. Status. ePrescribing Setup

Before you begin Before you use the NextGen® Enterprise EHR ePrescribing feature, the following ePrescribing setup procedures must be completed: Install NextGen® Communication Services (NCS). Enable Surescripts functionality in NCS. Note: Before you attempt to set up ePrescribing, you must contact NextGen Healthcare Support to install and configure NCS. Download the Surescripts pharmacies. Map unmatched pharmacies and add unmatched pharmacies as new. Check the pharmacy service level. Enroll the providers in the Surescripts network. Set up eRx permissions for the providers. Set up ePCS (Electronic Prescriptions of Controlled Substances) for authorized providers. Set up tabs and categories for eRx refills and eRx errors in the Workflow module's task list. Set up workgroups for eRx refills and eRx errors in the Workflow module. Assign each Surescripts-enrolled provider with an eRx-specific workgroup and task list category. Set up supervising physician. Set up multiple destinations. System

eRx Certificate Manager IdenTrust Only Utility

The public key certificate that NextGen® Enterprise EHR (versions 5.8 and later) uses for ePrescribing Controlled Substances (ePCS), expires on August 04, 2022. All ePCS transactions require a valid certificate. You can download the latest eRx Certificate Manager IdenTrust Only utility from NextGen Healthcare Success Community and install the certificate in your NextGen® database. The eRxCertificateManagerIdenTrustOnly_Installer_1.0.0.zip file contains a utility installer to update the IdenTrust certificate and a user guide to help you through the installation process. The new certificate is already valid and expires on July 18, 2027. NextGen Healthcare recommends you to complete the installation as soon as possible to avoid ePCS issues on August 04, 2022 or later. Note: If you are a hosted client, NextGen Support will update the certificates before the expiration date. All ePCS transactions require a valid certificate. You can download the latest eRx Certificate Manager VIP Only utility from NextGen Healthcare Success Community and install the VIP certificate in your NextGen® database. The eRxCertificateManagerVIPOnly_Installer_1.2.0.zip file contains a utility installer to update the VIP certificate and a user guide to help you through the installation process. The new certificate is already valid and expires on February 01, 2024. Please complete the installation as soon as possible to avoid ePCS issues on March 06, 2022 or later.
