ePCS Security Features for RxPrint and RxFax Reporting

The generic and the state-specific RxPrint and RxFax reports include Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) mandated information. These regulations increase the safety and effectiveness of electronic transmissions of controlled substance prescriptions.

When you print or fax a controlled substance prescription, the following report information opens based on the below conditions:

  • If you refax or reprint an electronic prescription for a controlled substance, a COPY NOT FOR DISPENSING watermark appears on the report.
  • If the electronic transmission for the prescription fails, the following occurs:
    • A message appears stating that the transmission failed.
    • For the sender on the report or the fax, the following original electronic transmission information appears:
      • The date and time the prescription was sent
      • The name and address of the pharmacy
  • If the electronic transmission for the prescription fails and you resend, the following information appears on the report or fax:
    • A message stating that the transmission failed
    • The original electronic transmission information
    • The COPY NOT FOR DISPENSING watermark
