Viewing Test Results from a Medical Records Template

The Trend Results order control field on a Medical Records template displays a Results view from the Orders module that enables you to: Review all lab test results for the current patient. Graph the values for tests that were repeated for the patient. Link to web resources for patient education, clinical decision support, and provider reference. You can display all results (default filter) or use practice-level or private user filters to view only results that meet selected criteria. Managing Orders from a Medical Records Template

The Orders Summary order control field on a Medical Records template displays a list of all orders related to the current patient from the Orders module. The orders listed and the data displayed on each order line are based on the selected predefined system or private user or practice-level filter. The first column displays an icon that identifies the order type (lab, radiology, or immunizations). Icons that identify recurring and future orders display in the fourth column. You can select the icon to view the order schedule. Practice and user-defined filters may display other information. The top toolbar displays different commands based on the selected order filter. Note: You must have the applicable access rights to add, update, or delete an order. Insert an Order Control Field

You can use an order control field on a template in two ways: Insert the field on a Medical Records template to enable a user to view or enter lab, radiology, or immunizations order or result information in NextGen® Enterprise EHR at run time. Insert the field on a Practice or Practice Popup template to enable a user to manage all patient orders across a practice and update practice order filters in NextGen® Enterprise EHR at run time. Note: You can also use the Patient Lab Order trigger to order lab or radiology tests. You can use both the Patient Lab Order trigger and an order control field on a template. When the trigger is executed, the information displayed from the order control field can be refreshed to include the new lab or radiology order. Drag the Order Control icon from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Insert Order Control window opens. View Lab Results

Before you begin You must ensure that you have the necessary access rights in System Administrator for the Orders Module. For more information on user access rights, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. You can view the results of a patient's laboratory tests. Additionally, you can open the Orders Module and view the order details associated with a result. For more information on the Orders Module, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Orders Module User Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. On the Quick Buttons panel, select Lab Results.The Review Patient Results window opens displaying a report of all completed laboratory tests in a flow sheet format, that includes the date and time of the specimens associated with an order collected,test name, and result for the test name. Configure Resulted Lab Tests

The configured lab result appears in the Result Details picklist for Order Management. OpenNextGen® Enterprise EHR. From theFilemenu, selectSystem \ Practice Template. TheSelect Templatewindow opens. Select Configuration Home, and then click OK. The Custom DB Picklist template opens. Select Coded lab order result DB picklist. Click Configure. The Custom DBPicklist Setup window, the grid displays the existing code system, code value, and result. To add the code system and its value, do the following: Click Add New List Item. The Add button is enabled. To add a code system, enter the code type in the Code System field. To add the result details, enter the appropriate value in the Result field. To add code value, enter the numeric value in the Code Value field. Click Add. The added lab result details appear in the grid. To update a record, select and edit the record, and then click Update. Using the Results Panel

You can perform the following actions in the Results panel on the Orders Summary tab: Enter test results coming in with an interface using the Formatted Results, Grid Results, or Documents, Images, and URLs tabs. Manually enter results using the New Results Entry tab. Manually enter related documents using the New Document and Images Entry tab. View and add tracking comments. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. The actions available on the Results panel toolbar change depending on which type of results are being viewed or created.
