Enter Destination and Header Information for Exports
In the top portion of the Export tab, you can choose a destination and identify the document that is being exported.
- On the Export tab, for Destination, select one of the following:
- Export to File: Export the file to the location designated in the Data Share module settings.
- <External System name>: Select the name of a regional health information organization (RHIO) or a health information services provider (HISP). The external systems must have been defined in HIE Gateway. The list excludes any systems that are not permitted by the patient's consent policy. If you choose an HISP, the export is a referral using direct secure messaging (DSM).
- NextGen Share: When using NextGen® Share (installed and configured separately), select this option to send a referral to a provider.

- NextGen PxP Portal: Select this option to send the document to the patient's NextGen® PxP Portal account.

If you are creating an addendum or replacement to an existing document, the Destination value is preset to the external system where the original document is stored. - In Title, enter a name for the document.
If you do not enter a title, the document receives a default title. If the exported data is for a single encounter, the default title is Continuity of Care Document (C-CDA R2.1) (Encounter date: <date and time>). For longitudinal exports, the title is Continuity of Care Document (C-CDA R2.1) (<export date and time>).
- If the document is for a referral, enter a reason in Reason for Referral.
