Select the PDMP Gateway Role

Select the PDMP Gateway role provided by Bamboo Health so that user with prescriptive authority can request for and view a patient’s PDMP report. The list of PDMP Gateway roles is predefined Master List > PDMP Gateway Role. CAUTION: If you add or modify a PDMP Gateway role that is not included in the list provided by Bamboo Health, the PDMP report request for that role may fail. In File Maintenance, from Master Files > System, select Providers. In the Providers List window, double-click a provider. In the Modify Provider Information window, select the Practice tab. From the PDMP Gateway Role list, select a role for the provider. Modify Provider Information CAUTION: If you select the Unspecified role or a role that is hidden in the PDMP Gateway Role master list, a provider cannot submit the PDMP report request. Select OK. Grant PDMP Report Security Rights to User Groups

In System Administrator, select a user group. On the Rights tab, select Operations > Medications, and then do the following: Set the PDMP Request security right to Yes. This security right enables users to send requests to Bamboo Health for patient's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) report. Set the PDMP View security right to Yes. This security right enables users to view a patient’s PDMP report returned from Bamboo Health. In System Administrator, from View > Universal Preferences > Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, do the following: To automatically generate Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) reports when a user creates an encounter in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, set the Initiate automatic PDMP upon New Encounter preference to True. To automatically generate PDMP reports when a user opens the Medications module, set the Initiate automatic PDMP upon opening med module preference to True. Note: The default value for both preferences is False. If you do not set the preferences to True, users with the PDMP Request and PDMP View security rights can request and generate PDMP reports manually. Preference Verify that the PDMP API URL preference displays the PDMP Production API URL to support Bamboo Health API v5.1. This URL is used to generate PDMP reports within NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Before you begin Before you enable Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) gateway, you must have the PDMP gateway login credentials from Bamboo Health. You can enable the PDMP gateway so that users with PDMP security rights can request for and view a patient’s PDMP report. When you enable the PDMP gateway and the State PDMP, the PDMP and the PDMP Viewed via State Portal buttons in the Medications module becomes available to the authorized users. In File Maintenance, from Master Files > System > EHR, select Practices. The Practices List window opens. On the Practices List window, double-click a practice. The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) setup involves the following procedures: In File Maintenance: Enable PDMP Gateway. or Enable State PDMP. Note: The Enable State PDMP option enables non-Bamboo Health users to document that they have checked the state's PDMP website outside of NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If necessary, specify whether PDMP report review is required. Select the PDMP Gateway role. In System Administrator: Set up user and provider relationship to Self. If necessary, set up PDMP reports to automatically generate. Verify the PDMP Production API URL. Grant PDMP report security rights to user groups. Note: If you have firewall or proxy restrictions, you should grant access to the URL pdmp.nextgen.com on workstations where you are using NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Viewing Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) Report

As a regulatory requirement, states can mandate that you view a patient’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) report before prescribing Controlled Substances (CS) medications such as narcotics, sedatives, stimulants, and drugs of concern. With PDMP, you can receive a detailed list of a patient’s controlled substance history and NarxCare scores at the point of care. The PDMP integrated functionality, using Bamboo Health PDMP Gateway, can help eliminate fraud, risk, and crime while ensuring compliance and increasing patient safety. For this service, you, as a client, must contract directly with Bamboo Health for a nominal annual provider fee. Some states cover this fee for their prescribers. In NextGen® Mobile, providers with proper permissions can now view the PDMP reports using a hyperlink that appears on the Rx Details, Refill Request, and Renew Medication views for CS medications.
