Template Types

NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers the following template groups: Template Group Description Demographics Template Demographics Popup Demographics Extended Popup Demographics Extended Popup View Demographics templates store a patient's demographic information, such as the patient's address, employer, primary and referring providers, emergency contact, and insurance information. You can customize Demographic templates to include any patient-related information needed at your facility. Note: You can set an Enterprise Preference to enable practices to edit demographic extended popup data from other practices within the enterprise. The Edit demographic ext data across enterprise preference is set in File Maintenance. Merge Demographics Templates in File Maintenance

If your facility uses bothNextGen® Enterprise PMandNextGen® Enterprise EHR, you are required to select which specificNextGen® Enterprise EHRDemographic Templates from the patient's chart to keep during the merge process. When duplicate patients are merged, allNextGen® Enterprise EHRMedical Records Templates for both patients are automatically merged along with all other applicable patient data. The retained record does not include demographic information from the merged patient record. Follow the steps for merging person data. View Medical Records and Demographic Templates

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If needed, select a location and provider. Select a patient. The patient's encounters opens in the Encounter History tab. Do one of the following: Select an existing unlocked encounter. To create an encounter, select New. Note: If you are creating a patient or the patient does not have an encounter, NextGen® Enterprise EHR prompts you to create an encounter. To select a template, do one of the following: Select the Templates button on the Top toolbar. You can add the button to the toolbar if it is not visible. From the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Menu bar, select File > New > Template. The Select Template window opens. To display templates of that type, select the Medical Records (default) or Demographics tab. Note: If applicable, the Group and Case Management tabs also appear to select Group Medical Records templates and Case Management templates. Demographics Template

Use the Demographics template to update patient demographics and contact information. Any changes made in this panel are updated in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The Insurance panel displays the encounter level insurance information. This information is read-only and cannot be updated from this panel. Access the Patient Demographics Template

You can also access the Patient Demographics template from Demographics links on various NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. For more information, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine documentation for the specific template. Open an existing patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For more information, refer to the Person and Patient Lookup in EHR section. Open the Select Template window and select the Demographics tab. Select the Patient Demographics template. For more information on selecting a template, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Templates User Guide for NextGen Enterprise EHR. The Patient Demographics template appears, displaying the selected patient's information. Expand the panels to view the information in them. You can add or edit information in the enabled fields.
