Define Critical Result Ranges

You can define a range of results for each type of test order. Then, when results are recorded for test orders that are outside of the normal range, an alert appears.

You must have permissions set up in System Administrator to set up and change alert settings.

  1. On the Orders Summary tab, select an order that has results with a status of Final.
  2. To expand the Results panel, select the down arrow.
  3. From the Results toolbar, select Setup.
The vendors list is displayed from the external system table. The entity that performed the test is the default vendor.

The list is associated with a specific vendor, such as Labcorp® or Quest Diagnostics®. The vendors list is provided by a system table and is loaded with NextGen® Enterprise EHR. The list is updated, when needed, by NextGen Healthcare.

  4. Select the vendor from the Please select vendor list.
A list of all result components for that vendor appears. If the vendor is not set up with any components, the Components list is empty.

  5. Select one of the components in the test list that displays for that vendor.
When you select a component, the critical range for that component can be filled in. No default critical range value is defined. You add the ranges when you select Add or Edit on the Add New Critical Range for window.
  6. Select Add.
The Add New Critical Range for window opens.

  7. Enter values for all of the fields and select OK.

The values are saved and displayed in the Setup Critical Results Range window.
