Create a NextGen® Enterprise PM Task

You can create a task for NextGen® Enterprise PM related to a chart, user, or encounter. You can send the task to one or more selected users or workgroups.

Recipients can view tasks assigned to them from the Worklog Manager window in NextGen® Enterprise PM. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Practice Workflow User Guide forNextGen®Enterprise PM.

  1. From the New list on the Clinical Tasking tab toolbar, select PM Task.
    The New PM Task window opens, showing the default source and task types, today as the default due date,and Normal as the priority level.

  2. From the Source Type list, select Chart (default), Encounter, or User.
    If you select Encounter, you must also select a patient and attach an encounter.

    The default task type for the selected source type is automatically filled in. The Chart source type has two task type options.

  3. To change the task type for the Chart source type, from the Task Type list, select Chart Misc (default) or EPM Task From EHR Report.
  4. To change the due date, enter the new date, or select the Calendar icon, and then select a different date from the calendar that appears.
  5. From the Priority list, select High, Normal (default) , or Low.
  6. On the Assign To: line, select Add.
    The Select Task Recipients window opens.

  7. Under Available Users/Workgroups, select each user or workgroup to send the task to, and then select Add>> to move your selections to Task Recipients.
    You can only add one user or workgroup at a time to the Task Recipients list.
    • To search for a user or workgroup, enter the first few letters of the name in the search box at the top of the list. Select the name from the list of matching names.
    • To remove a selected user or workgroup, select the user under Task Recipients, and then select <<Remove.
    • To remove all selected users and workgroups, select Clear.
  8. Select OK.
    Each selected workgroup or user is listed as the task recipient in the Assign To: field.
  9. Enter the Subject.
  10. To associate a patient with the task, on the Re: Patient: line, select Add.
    The Patient Lookup window opens.
  11. Search for the patient from the window. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Patient Demographics Guide forNextGen®Enterprise.
  12. Select Open to fill in the patient's name for Re: Patient.
  13. Enter a Description.
  14. If the task source type is Encounter, from the Attachment list, select Encounter.
    The Select Patient Encounter window opens.

  15. Double-click the encounter to attach.
    The encounter information opens on the Attachment line.
  16. To cancel the task, select Cancel.
  17. To complete the task, select Send Task.
