Create a NextGen® Enterprise EHR Task

You can create a NextGen® Enterprise EHR task and send it to one or more selected users or workgroups. You can associate the task with a specific patient and attach any of the following items to it:
  • Template
  • NextGen® Enterprise EHR document or image
  • NextGen® Document Management image
  • SAP® Crystal Report®
  • Equipment report
  • Patient Education document
  • HIE document or document view
  1. From the New list on the Clinical Tasking tab toolbar, select EHR Task.
    A blank task template opens on the Workflow window. The template shows your name as the sender, today's date as the sent date, Pending as the status, today as the default due date, and Normal as the priority level.

  2. Enter the subject in the box at the top.
  3. To add the recipient, select To:.
    The Select Task Recipients window opens.

  4. Under Available Users/Workgroups, select each user or workgroup to send the task to, and then select Add>> to move your selections to Task Recipients.
    You can only add one user or workgroup at a time to the Task Recipients list.
    • To search for a user or workgroup, enter the first few letters of the name in the search box at the top of the list, and then select the name from the list of matching names.
    • To remove a selected user or workgroup, select the user under Task Recipients, and then select <<Remove.
    • To remove all selected users and workgroups, select Clear.
  5. Select OK.
    Each selected workgroup or user is listed as the task recipient in the To:.
  6. To change the due date, select the Due Date down arrow to display a calendar, and then select a different date.
  7. From the Priority list, select High, Normal (default) , or Low.
  8. From the Categories list, select the check box for each applicable category.

  9. Enter any task details in the box beneath Categories.
  10. To associate a patient with the task, do one of the following:
    • To quickly attach the currently selected patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, from the Re: Patient list, select Active Patient.
    • To display the Patient Lookup window, select Re: Patient or select Lookup from the Re: Patient list. The patient demographics information displays for the selected patient.

  11. To attach a template, document, image, Patient Education document, or report to the task, select the item from the Re: Document list.
    A selection window opens for the item.
    • Select the specific template, document, image, or report to attach.
  12. To cancel the task, select Undo.
  13. To complete the task, select Send Task.
