Selecting Orders

To create your order, you can use one or both of the following approaches. You can select a diagnosis and then add the appropriate order items. This approach can be useful for differential diagnoses. For example, for a patient exhibiting symptoms of pneumonia, you may have two differential diagnoses—streptococcus pneumonia and viral pneumonia. You can select a set of tests specific to streptococcus pneumonia first, followed by a different set specific to viral pneumonia. You can select the order items first and then assign the diagnoses. In this approach, you can search for and select a laboratory, diagnostic, or immunization item using the following options. Create a Favorite Order Items List

You can create a favorites list for your frequently ordered items. Open CPOE. In the COMMON ORDERS or SEARCH RESULTS list, hover over an order item, and then select the ellipses icon. The Favorites pane appears. Select the tags to associate with the order item and select Save. CPOE adds the order item to the selected tags. Create User Tags You can create a user tag and associate it with a favorites list. Rename User Tags You can rename user tags if there are multiple tags with similar names. Set Default Filters to the Favorites List You can set a default filter to the FAVORITES list to view the most frequently used order items. Managing Order Details

When you select an order item, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) displays the order details in the following tabs based on the order type. All Laboratory Diagnostic Immunization In the All tab, CPOE displays a consolidated summary of all your selected order items, grouped by the order type and selected performing entities. In the Laboratory, Diagnostic, and Immunization tabs, CPOE displays the details of the respective order items. You can review and modify the details of your order items before placing your order. Note: CPOE saves your selected order items in the Incomplete Items list until you place the order. Manage General Order Details You can view and modify sections of the order that are common for all your selected order items. Set Default Filters to the Favorites List

You can set a default filter to the FAVORITES list to view the most frequently used order items. Open CPOE. Select Favorites. The FAVORITES list appears displaying the order items that are associated with the selected tags. Create User Tags

You can create a user tag and associate it with a customized list of favorite order items. Open CPOE. Select Favorites. The FAVORITES list appears displaying the order items that are associated with the selected tags. Note: For more information on associating order items to a tag, see Create a Favorite Order Items List. To create a tag, in the Settings list, under Create New Tag, enter a unique name for the tag and select Save. The new tag appears under Settings > User Tags. Select the tag and select the corresponding right arrow icon. CPOE adds the selected tag to Tags Dropdown List and the Tags list. Similarly, you can add tags from Settings > Practice Tags to Tags Dropdown List and the Tags list. Note: You must create at least one user tag before you can associate order items to the tag.
