Best Practices for Setting Up Order Preferences for DM Images for NextGen Adaptive Content Engine Templates
Practice B Current Order Process: Practice B uses NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine to process orders. Their most frequently processed orders are Radiology orders and Referrals. Practice B manually updates their referral order statuses to Completed when a referral report is received. When result reports are received for Lab and Radiology Orders, Practice B manually updates those orders with a status of Result Received. Once the patient has been contacted with the results, providers then manually update the order statuses to Completed.
Best Practice Goal: Practice B wants to display the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order types they most frequently use when linking or associating DM images to orders in Document Management or signing off images or orders in PAQ. By selecting the orders preferences, the practice ensures the system updates the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order status at the appropriate points in the order lifecycle, reducing manual entry, streamlining the order process, and enhancing consistency.
Best Practice Pre-Set up Strategy: Practice B’s Lab and Radiology orders are processed in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Since Radiology orders and Referrals are the majority of orders, Practice B determines that Radiology orders should be the default view when users access orders in Document Management or PAQ. To close the loop on referral orders, Practice B determines that referrals should be marked as Completed in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine when a scanned report from the referral physician is reviewed by the ordering provider. For any Lab and Radiology orders, Practice B decides that these order types should have a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order status of Result Received when a scanned report is received.
