Attach a VIS Document to a Vaccine Item
- In File Maintenance, select System > VIS SetUp.
The VIS SetUp List window opens.
- Select the Open Menu
button, and then select New.
The Add VIS Document window opens. - Enter the Vaccine Name.
- Select the
Open Record button and select the VIS document to attach.
- Enter the required fields (in red font): Publish Date, Description, and Language.
Tip: If you intend to add the Document Type, you do not have to manually add the Publish Date. The system defaults it after you add (that is, paste) it in the Document Type field. Refer to Steps 6 to 8.
- To access the Document Type code, select Lookup.
The CDC site displays the Vaccine document types, including the Document Type code (VIS fully-encoded text string number) for each vaccine.Note: The CDC web link default is set up in System Administrator, select View, Universal Preferences, Lab Group, and the VIS Document Type Lookup preference. If CDC changes this link, you can manually update this preference in System Administrator.
- Highlight the specific vaccine's VIS fully encoded text string number.
- Right-click and select Copy.
- Close the CDC site.
- Paste the VIS fully-encoded text string number in the Document Type field.
- If required, select the Vaccine Type from the list, and then select OK.
