Administering Immunizations High-Level Workflow and Tips

To support your practice’s Immunizations administration process, determine which Immunizations workflow or task is appropriate to perform for each patient. The Immunizations functionality enables you to select the appropriate vaccines, provide vaccine details during administration, and track and complete each Immunization life cycle efficiently. There may be various scenarios a physician and clinical staff encounter when ordering and executing an immunization. For example, special patient needs, such as a VFC-eligibility, allergy sensitivities, or parental consent; billing considerations, available vaccines in the inventory, and ensuring the most appropriate vaccines are selected according to immunization schedules.

The Immunizations workflows range from basic, such when you administer a flu shot, or more specific considerations, such as administering vaccines for Medicare patients, administering live vaccines, or when a vaccine is not in the inventory.

You can perform other types of Immunizations tasks, such as documenting when a series is complete, handling a patient that has no previously documented immunizations, or documenting that a series is complete.
