Clinical Problem DUR Preferences

This section outlines the preferences that are used to perform clinical problem interactions DUR: In System Administrator: Setting up the Medications Operations Right for Interaction Display Level. You can select User Group in Enterprise Practice > Rights > OPERATIONS > Medications. Acknowledge Problem - Drug Interactions

The DUR runs against all active and pending medications on the patient's chart. If any interactions are found, they appear on the Drug Interaction window. Note: User-defined medications are not checked for interactions. The display of problem interactions is based on the display levels set for the system and/or a specific user. If the Show DUR across enterprise option is enabled, NextGen® Enterprise EHR checks for possible interactions with the patient's medications across all practices. CAUTION: You must review and acknowledge each interaction alert. Take the necessary steps to avoid an adverse reaction for the patient. Repeat the following steps for each interaction alert. Select the interaction alert. Review the prescribed medication and the alert message. Select Acknowledge. NextGen® Enterprise EHR accepts the acknowledgment and automatically selects the next available medication Interaction. A check mark appears next to the interaction. The DUR checks the selected allergy against the list of all active medications. If any interactions are found, they appear on the Interaction Check DUR window. Note: User-defined allergies and medications are not checked for interactions. The display of allergy interactions is based on the display levels set for the system and/or a specific user. If the Show DUR across enterprise option is enabled, NextGen® Enterprise EHR checks for possible interactions with the patient's medications across all practices. Check Medication Allergy Interactions

You can check for interactions between a patient allergy and all of the active medications prescribed to the patient. Open the Medication Allergies module. Select an active medication allergy. Select Interactions. NextGen® Enterprise EHR checks the selected allergy against the list of all active medications. If there is an interaction, the Interaction Check DUR window opens. Interaction Check DUR Note: The display of allergy interaction is based on the display levels set for the system, a specific user, or both. Highlight the listed medication to view the summary of the existing conflict. NextGen® Enterprise lists a summary of effect and level of risk. Select OK to close the Interaction Check window.
