Before you begin As a NextGen® Enterprise EHR user, you must have: Permissions assigned in all of the practices where images may exist for the patient. Access to the document types in the practices. When the Enterprise Chart feature is not turned on, NextGen® Enterprise EHR users can only view the NextGen® Document Management images that are maintained for the same practice. However, by turning on Enterprise Chart, the users can view NextGen® Document Management images that are maintained in any of the practices within the enterprise. Open File Maintenance. In Master Files, select System > Enterprises. In the Enterprises List window, double-click the enterprise from the list. In the Modify Enterprise Information window, select Preferences. The General tab opens in the Enterprise Preferences window. Select the Enterprise Chart checkbox. A message appears to confirm that you want to set the option. Note: After you select the Enterprise Chart checkbox, you cannot turn it off. Select Yes.

Managing Enterprise Cases

You can normally view and modify a patient's case only within the practice it was created in. However, you can activate an enterprise-level preference that makes the case available to all practices within the same enterprise. It affects the applications in the following ways: Users in any of the practices in the enterprise can view and modify the case information and attach encounters from the current practice. Even though the cases are enterprise-wide, the encounters are not. The encounters that you can attach are limited to only the encounters within the practice. For example, if you log in to practice A, you cannot attach or detach encounters that belong to practice B. When a case is opened on the Case Management window, the encounters that were attached in other practices display in a list that cannot be modified. You can select and view a patient's chart in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can view a patient's chart in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Note: In System Administrator, if Access Rights for Chart/Recalls/Tasking is set to No, then you cannot access Chart on the NextGen Care® Population Management Hub toolbar. View Patient Chart Access by Other Users

Your practice may enable you view a list of other users who are currently accessing the same patient's chart in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To use this feature, the Warn on Multi Edit check box must be selected on the NextGen® Enterprise EHR list of Practice Preferences in File Maintenance. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the File Maintenance Preferences Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. From the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Main menu, select View and then Patient Access. The Patient Chart Access window appears. This window also appears for the other users who are viewing the patient's chart. The title bar displays the name of the selected patient. The window lists the name of each user who is accessing the chart and identifies the user's workstation, date and time of access, and phone number. After reviewing the information, select Close. You can see clinical data from other practices for the selected Enterprise Chart patient in read-only mode. You cannot add or modify the displayed information. Manage Encounter History at Practice-Level

You can customize the appearance of the Encounter History at the practice level with System Administrator privileges. You can set patient’s encounter preferences for the encounter display, encounter filters, encounter component expansion, and inclusion of Case Management, if applicable. Encounters are identified by date and time, provider, and location. You can choose which information to include, its format, and its order. You can also choose to include remarks. Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files, select EHR, and then select Application Appearance.
