Open
NextGen® Document Management
.
On the toolbar, select
Admin
, and then select
Preferences
>
User
.
The
Doc Mgmt
tab opens in the
User Preferences
window.
In the
Search Options
section, select
Enable Enterprise Search
.
In the confirmation message, select whether you want all practices to be selected by default in the
NextGen® Document Management
image search lookup.
Note:
When no practice is selected, the logged on practice is selected by default.
The
Practice Defaults
folder appears next to the
Enable Enterprise Search
option.
Select the
Practice Defaults
folder.
In the
Practice Defaults
window, select
OK
.
To search for an image, on the toolbar, select
Search
.
In the
Image Lookup
window, select the search criteria, and then select
Find
.
The
Matching Records
grid displays all documents associated with the selected practices.

Configure Your Default Rendering Provider in User Preferences
You can use the User Preferences window in NextGen® Document Management to add a default rendering provider, enable barcode recognition, preview images during import, and to cache patient or user-defined data to a patient encounter. Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Admin, and then select Preferences > User. The Doc Mgmt tab opens in the User Preferences window. Select defaults for the Quick File Configuration profile, document type for filing a document, and then select the default rendering provider for the patient documents. When you file a document, you can manually assign a rendering provider that either overrides the selected provider or fills the Rendering Provider in the patient document. If you are licensed for barcode recognition and want to scan documents that have barcodes, select Enable barcode recognition. Note: You can also activate barcode recognition at the batch level when you are scanning documents by selecting Enable Barcoding from the Batch

Set Up Custom Chart Configurations for Pre-defined Searches
Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Admin, and then select Preferences > User. The Doc Mgmt tab opens in the User Preferences window. In the Custom Chart Configurations section, select the open menu button, and then select New.The Custom Chart Detail window opens. Enter the name of the custom chart, and then select the Configure Search Criteria button.The Image Lookup window opens. Enter the search criteria that you want to preserve as your Custom Chart Configuration. To add advanced search criteria, select Advanced, enter the criteria, and then select OK. Display Image Scanned Dates in Search Results
Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Admin, and then select Preferences > User. The Doc Mgmt tab opens in the User Preferences window. In the Search Options section, select Use Scanned Date in search results, and then select OK. To open the Image Lookup window, on the toolbar, select Search. Enter the search criteria, and then select Find. In Matching Records, select and open a record.The Search Results window displays the matching records. The first column displays the scanned dates in descending order. In the Filing Options section, set up the default filing options. In the Tasking Options section, select default users for To-Do form tasking, select a default category for To-Do list items for the users, and then apply the current date to the items created for the users' To-Do list. In the Printing Options section, select the print options you want to set as the default.The Print Doc Mgmt Images window displays the default printing options that you select in the Printing Options section. Note: You can also change the printing options in the Print Doc Mgmt Images window when you print images. In the Viewer Options section, set up the viewer-related user preferences. Search for Images and Documents
When you search for documents and images inNextGen® Document Management,you can search among the categories, documents types, and fields you previously assigned to each document and image. The search criteria are not case sensitive. Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Search to open the Image Lookup window. To include images that are not filed to a patient or person, select the Search Non-Person Images checkbox. Search for a patient image by using one or more fields. You must enter at least two letters to perform a search. You can use wildcard characters (*), but do not use a wildcard character as the first character of your search criteria. Note: For accurate search results, you can enter more patient details in the search criteria. The Matching Records grid displays the list of patients who are associated with images that match your search results. Double-click a patient record to open its associated images in the Search Results For: window. If you selected the
