Prevent SetDB Overwrite Over Remote Scanning in Ngconfig.ini

For remote scanning to function with NextGen® Document Management, the ngconfig.ini file must contain the [NGICSRemoteScanning] section. This section is automatically added to the ngconfig.ini file when you activate remote scanning. However, if you subsequently use the SetDB utility to change environments, the [NGICSRemoteScanning] section of the ngconfig.ini file can be overwritten. You can prevent the overwriting of the [NGICSRemoteScanning] section of the file when you use SetDB.

  1. Set up the Remote Scanning service.
  2. Open the current ngconfig.ini file in a text editor, and then make sure that the [NGICSRemoteScanning] section exists.

The section should be located at the bottom of the file.

  3. Save the ngconfig.ini file as ngconfig01.txt in the Config folder on the server where your NextGen Healthcare applications are installed.
  4. Check for the [NGICSRemoteScanning] section, and then save the ngconfig.ini for each environment (server) that you run NextGen Healthcare applications on.
  5. Run the SetDB utility to switch between the environments.
  6. After each switch, open the ngconfig.ini file in a text editor and check that the [NGICSRemoteScanning] section exists.

The SetDB utility copies the ngconfig01.txt file from the server’s config folder to the local ngconfig.ini file.
