Set Up Operation Rights for Generating Reports

You can configure which user groups can generate NextGen® Document Management reports from NextGen® Document Management and NextGen® Enterprise PM. Open System Administrator. Select a user group, and then select the Rights tab. In Master Files, select System, PM, or Document Management, and then select Practices. The Practices List window opens. In the Practices list, double-click a practice. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. In Preferences List, select Imaging. Expand OPERATIONS, and then expand Reports. Select Doc Mgmt, and then in the Access Rights section, select Yes. Configure Operation Rights for Imaging Tasks

You can configure the image-related functions that a group of users can perform in NextGen® Document Management. Open System Administrator. Select a user group, and then select the Rights tab. In Master Files, select System, PM, or Document Management, and then select Practices. The Practices List window opens. In the Practices list, double-click a practice. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. In Preferences List, select Imaging. Expand OPERATIONS, and then expand Imaging. In the Access Rights section, select Yes.You can select No to deny the selected operation right for the user group. Note: When users belong to two groups that have their operation rights set differently from each other, then the Yes option prevails over the No option. Select Save. Configuring NextGen® Document Management Security

For NextGen® Document Management usage, you can configure the following for security controls: You can restrict users based on the document type. You can use network impersonation to restrict network access to image and document files. Network impersonation is a security process that controls user access to the image and document files stored in the Network Share Location folder. In NextGen® Document Management, you can use the username and password configured in enterprise preferences when you manipulate files in Windows® . You can set up operation rights to NextGen® Document Management imaging and report functions for user groups in System Administrator. You can manage access rights related to the scan templates for the security groups in System Administrator. Note: You must have the Modify permission to access the NextGen® Document Management images. Scan Templates

With the Scan Templates master file, you can create templates for NextGen® Document Management that apply preconfigured settings to the process of scanning documents. When applied to a batch during document scanning, the scanning template adjusts the TWAIN interface settings to control the scanner. You must have a license for NextGen® Document Management to access Scan Templates master file. Assign Document Types to Users by Security Group

Before you begin Set up document types. For more information, go to Set Up Document Types. You can control which document types are available to each NextGen® Document Management security group. The NextGen® Document Management security groups correspond to the user groups in System Administrator. When filing a document batch, users can apply only those document types that are available to their user group. Note: Users cannot file or search for documents until you assign document types to the user groups. Only a user with administrative rights can add document types to a group. To open the Security Groups window, do one of the following: Open NextGen® Document Management, and then from the menu, select Admin > Security. Open File Maintenance, then in the Master Files section, select System > Document Management, and then select Document Types. Select the open menu button, and then select New. Copy Document Type Permissions to a Group

Assign all document types to the users. You can copy the Document Type permissions assigned to a group and apply those permissions to another group across practices. To open the Security Groups window, do one of the following: Open NextGen® Document Management, and then from the menu, select Admin > Security. Open File Maintenance, then in the Master Files section, select System > Document Management, and then select Document Types. Select the open menu button, and then select New. In the Document Type Information window, select Security. Right-click the group you want to copy the document type permissions from, and then select Copy Permissions. Right-click the group you want to apply the document type permissions to, and then select Apply Permissions from <Practice name\Group name>. The <Practice name\Group name> represents the source practice name and group name. Note: The applied permissions overwrite the existing document type permissions that are configured for that group.
