Set Up Document Linking Practice Preferences

To link DM images to orders functions in DM and PAQ, your practice must first set up the appropriate order type filter preferences. To select the default order preferences that the system displays in DM and the PAQ for document linking, do the following: Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. In the Orders / Results Linking section, select the default order type to display when selecting orders to link to a scanned document. If your practice receives the majority of radiology test results as scanned documents, select Diagnostics/Radiology as the Default View. In the Order Type and Default Source section, select the Default Source for each Order Type. If your practice places the majority of your Radiology orders in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, select Adaptive Content Engine (as the source). If Lab Orders are placed in or processed to the Order module, select the Orders Module as the source for that order type

Open the Practice Preferences

Do one of the following: In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Practices. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Admin > Preferences > Practice. Double-click a practice, and then select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. In the Preference List, select the desired practice preference name. The window displays the Practice Preferences related to your selection. Set Up the Order Type and Source View for DM and the PAQ in File Maintenance

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. In the Orders / Results Linking section, select Diagnostics/Radiology as the default view. In the Order Type and Default Source section, select the following options: Diagnostics/Radiology: Orders Module Lab Orders: Orders Module Referrals: NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine Templates In the Adaptive Content Engine Order Status Update Upon Sign-off section, select the following options: Diagnostics: Result Received Lab Orders: Result Received Referrals: Completed Note: When linking a scanned document for a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order, the system updates the order status based on the selections the uses makes in the Adaptive Content Engine Order Status Update Upon Sign-off section. Open Your Custom Practice Template with an Orders Management Order Control

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR Do one of the following: On the File menu , select System\Practice Template. If available, execute a template field trigger for selecting system and practice templates. The Select Template window opens. Select the Practice tab. In the Show section, select one of the following options: To display all of the available practice templates, select All. If you have a user-defined, preferred list of templates, select Preferred to display them. You can use the Templates Preferences feature of NextGen® Enterprise EHR to define your list of preferred templates. Locate and double-click your practice's template with the Orders Management order control. To quickly find the template, select any row in the list, and enter the first few letters of the template name. The first matching template is highlighted in the list. Orders Module Practice Preferences

You can set a number of practice preferences for the Orders module in NextGen® Enterprise. From the Application Launcher, select File Maintenance > System > Practice Preferences. On Preferences List, select the Orders Module. For information about the Order module settings, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Orders Module Setup Guide for NextGen Enterprise EHR. File a Batch

After you scan a batch of documents and images into NextGen® Document Management, you can file them to make the individual documents of the batch easily available when you search for the document. The application holds the current file values when you change document types while filing batches. As you file a large batch, if the filing information does not change starting from the second page to several pages afterwards , you can select the navigation buttons to move through the pages until you reach a page that begins a new document. You can either select New Doc or select a different document type in the list to create a new document. Using the navigation buttons to move through a document while filing eliminates unnecessary database accesses since whenever you select File, you save the data to the database.
