Set Up the Order Type View for DM and the PAQ in File Maintenance

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. In the Orders / Results Linking section, select Diagnostics/Radiology as the default view. In the Order Type and Default Source section, select the following options: Diagnostics/Radiology: Adaptive Content Engine Lab Orders: Adaptive Content Engine Referrals: Adaptive Content Engine In the Adaptive Content Engine Order Status Update Upon Sign-off section, select the following options: Diagnostic: Result Received Lab orders: Result Received Referrals: Completed To save your selections, select OK. Set Up Document Linking Practice Preferences

To link DM images to orders functions in DM and PAQ, your practice must first set up the appropriate order type filter preferences. To select the default order preferences that the system displays in DM and the PAQ for document linking, do the following: Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. In the Orders / Results Linking section, select the default order type to display when selecting orders to link to a scanned document. If your practice receives the majority of radiology test results as scanned documents, select Diagnostics/Radiology as the Default View. In the Order Type and Default Source section, select the Default Source for each Order Type. If your practice places the majority of your Radiology orders in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, select Adaptive Content Engine (as the source). If Lab Orders are placed in or processed to the Order module, select the Orders Module as the source for that order type

DM Image Linking and Order Status Update Pre-Setup Considerations

Does your practice use NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine or the Orders module to process orders? What type of documents does your practice frequently scan? What order type do you want to set as the default when viewing orders for linking DM images in PAQ or Document Management? For example, Diagnostics/Radiology, Lab Orders, Referrals ( NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine) . After an image is linked to a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order, what status does your practice want to display in NextGen® Enterprise EHR? Linking DM Images to Orders

When linking an image in NextGen® Document Management or selecting an order with a linked DM image to sign off in PAQ, users can view active orders from the Order module and NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. When linking a NextGen® Document Management image with an Order module test, the image is stored as a result for that test in the Order module. Linking a NextGen® Document Management image with a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order updates the status of the order automatically based on the practice preferences set up in the File Maintenance Orders/Results Linking section. Setting Up the Link Document Management (DM) Images to Orders and Status Update Preferences

Users currently have the ability to link DM scanned images to order tests in the Orders module. Starting with NextGen® Enterprise version 5.8.3, for a more efficient workflow, practices can set up order type filter preferences in File Maintenance to more easily select the orders to link images in PAQ and NextGen® Document Management. By linking these images, when providers sign-off on the test order, the system updates the order status. Users can view the updated status for the order on the Orders Summary tab, as well as the linked image. For practices that use NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine for order processing, users can link a document image to a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order in either NextGen® Document Management or PAQ, for example a Referral order. Once a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order is linked (or associated) with an image, the system updates the order status. You can view the updated order status on the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine Order Management templ
