Workflow Summary for Care Guidelines Paged View
You can use the Care Guidelines Paged View template to activate an care guideline foa a patient.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Select the Care Guidelines link on any of the main template.
The Care Guidelines Paged View template opens.
- To activate one or more guidelines for a patient on the Activate Care Guidelines template, do the following:
- Activate a care guideline to use it to follow a condition or disease or health maintenance for a patient.
After a guideline is activated, it is ready for use.Note: Guidelines that are activated for a patient by mistake can only be removed in the same encounter in which they are activated. You must not remove an active guideline that has data. You can re-activate the guideline for the patient to restore a removed guideline item.
- Select the Add/Update button in the Care Guidelines panel grid.
- Select the Add Orderable link.
The Personalized Reminder/Orderable template opens.
You can add a personalized guideline for specific individual tests that you wish to follow for the patient. This allows you to avoid applying the entire guideline and then delete unwanted items.
- Select the Add/Update Reminders link.
The Personalized Reminder/Orderable template opens.
You can create and update a personalized reminder to yourself regarding the patient.
- Activate a care guideline to use it to follow a condition or disease or health maintenance for a patient.
- Document or update risk indicators for health maintenance.
Documenting risk indicators should be performed the first time with the patient, details should be reviewed at each encounter and updated for changes.Note: The Care Guidelines Paged View template does not include the Risk Indicators Health Maintenance link to open the gender specific Risk template. You can view the Risk Indicators Health Maintenance link in the Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines template and in the Active Guidelines panel on the Activate Guidelines template.Note: On the Activate Care Guidelines template, this link is not visible until you apply the health maintenance guideline to a patient.
- Select one of the following review status:
- Detailed documnet
- Reviewed, updated
- Reviewed, no change
Guideline items that do not display the status due in the grid, are not addressed at a specific time interval. To manually update the status for a guideline item do the following:
- Select the Status from the list.
The Calendar window opens.
- Select the date completed from the Calendar window.
The date fills the Last Completed field, and the Next Due field updates.
- Review care guidelines for orderable items that are due, such as exams, labs and diagnostic studies.
The Status displays due and orders can be placed from the Care Guidelines panel.
To place orders for orderable guideline items, do the following:
- Select the check box corresponding to the guideline item.
A diagnosis that was associated with the care guideline appears when it is activated.
- Select Place Order.
The guideline orderable item moves to the end of the list of orderable items with the status due, and the status updates to ordered.
Note: You must process and submit Labs and radiology orders on the Order module. You can submit labs and radiology orders from the Recent Orders panel. The nurse or medical assistant or the front desk staff performs the Order module processing from the Checkout template - Select the check box corresponding to the guideline item.
