Skin Cancer Log

If the patient that you selected in the Pathology Orders grid has a history of skin cancer with skin-cancer-related pathology records, those records appear in the grid of the Skin Cancer Log panel. View Pathology Results on the Biopsy Log Templates

On the Intake - Dermatology or GET template, click the Biopsy Log link. Note: You can also access the Biopsy Log template from the File > System \ Practice. The Biopsy Log template opens without any records. Click Specialty and select Dermatology from the resulting list. When you search, the application only displays search results of dermatology encounters. In the Pathology Order Search panel, enter your search criteria, and click Search. Records are available on the grid based on your search criteria. Note: The application only loads the first 100 records. If the record you are searching for does not appear among the records loaded, you must enter additional search criteria to narrow your search results. Select the record for the patient. The Pathology Orders section displays data for the selected record. Note: If the patient has any skin cancer history, those records are available on the Skin Cancer Log panel. Skin Cancer History Log

Click the Add button under the Treatment History grid to open the Skin Cancer History Log - Derm template. Click the Add button under the Staging grid to open the Cancer Type template. Information can be added to the Skin Cancer History Log panel using the Pathology Results template. Click the Path Results in the navigation bar to open the Pathology Results template. Record Skin Cancer History

Open the Histories - Dermatology template. In the Skin Cancer Log panel, in the Treatment History section, click Add. The Skin Cancer History Log - Derm template opens. In the Treated? section, select the N option. Type the year the cancer was diagnosed in the Year of DX field. To select the characteristics of cancer as reported on the pathology report, click Characteristics. In the Accession field , type the accession number from the pathology report. Select the correct specimen id from the Specimen ID list. Note: This is essential if the report includes multiple specimens. To open the Diagnosis template, click Diagnosis, and then locate and select the diagnosis as reported on the pathology report. Select the location where the patient is identified with cancer in the Location field. Select the treatment needed for this patient in the Recommended treatment field. Note: Information about the actual treatment needs to be reported after you have completed the procedure. When you complete

Skin Cancer Treatment Workflow

When the pathology report indicates the presence of skin cancer, you must first record the pathology results on the Skin Cancer History Log - Derm template. The application then places a record for the skin cancer in the Skin Cancer Log Treatment History grid and the Untreated Skin Cancer alert appears in the patient's chart and will remain until you report that the skin cancer has been treated. You can document when and how a patient was notified of pathology results on the Biopsy Log or the Order Management templates. This information is visible in order. After the lesion has been treated, the application updates the Skin Cancer Log Treatment History grid to indicate that the lesion has been treated and removes the Untreated Skin Cancer alert, if there are no other untreated skin cancers. Search for Pathology Orders and Results

When you select the specialty All Others, pathology orders for Dermatology and Ambulatory Surgery do not appear in the Pathology Orders grid. The same is true if you select the specialty Dermatology or Ambulatory Surgery, pathology orders for the All Others specialty do not appear in the grid. Click the Specialty field and select the appropriate specialty from the list. If you select Dermatology as the specialty, the Dermatology Pathology Order Search panel appears, which includes search criteria fields relevant for dermatology. If you select Ambulatory Surgery as the specialty, the Ambulatory Pathology Order Search panel appears, which includes search criteria fields relevant for ambulatory surgery, currently GI. If you select ll Others as the specialty, the standard Pathology Order Search panel appears, with search criteria fields suitable for all specialties. Use the fields in the Pathology Order Search panel to enter or select search criteria to locate the specific pathology record
