Dynamic HPI Templates

In the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates, the following types of History of Present Illness (HPI) templates are used to document a patient's reason for visiting the office: Static HPI - displays hard-coded content that is not easily customizable; a single template is available for each complaint with options for selecting pre-determined details: the final concatenation is available when you close the template Dynamic HPI - enables you to add, edit, update, and delete dynamic content for the HPI and concatenates the content on the template as items are selected or edited; NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is packaged with pre-configured dynamic HPI templates for the Gastroenterology, Physical Therapy, Orthopedics, Urology, and Pediatrics Well Child; the specific details about these existing HPI elements are provided in the Specialty Specific Dynamic HPI Elements section of this user guide. Dynamic HPI Config Practice Template

The Dynamic HPI Config practice template enables you to configure elements for the dynamic History of Present Illness (HPI) templates. Each dynamic HPI template is linked to a specific reason for visit. The dynamic HPI templates that are packaged with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine can be modified to meet the specific needs of a practice. If there is a need for a custom reason for visit, the practice can create a custom template. Data sets for labs, diagnostics, and procedures can be configured in the Section and Finding sections. New sections such as family history, lab data, and diagnostic data can be configured for a reason for visit. The new sections appear in the dynamic HPI template in the left pane under the Reason field in run time. The Contradiction setup link enables you to create guidelines that prevent users from selecting clinically contradictory findings. Dynamic HPI Contradictions Config Practice Template

The Dynamic HPI Contradictions Config template is designed to prevent you from selecting clinically contradictory terms in the same section or sub-section of a dynamic HPI. For example, you would not want to document a Quality of Mass as tender and non-tender in the same patient encounter. By making these values mutually exclusive, the system prevents the user from accidentally selecting the opposing terminology simultaneously. Any practice can use the Dynamic HPI Contradictions Config template to manually create new, mutually exclusive selections, and modify or remove existing pairs. Contradictions can also be matched automatically by selecting the Automatically match similar contradictions link. The practice template contains two grids: Findings and contradictions: Lists content items and their contradictions within a specific section or sub-section. Dynamic HPI Sentence Config Practice Template

The Dynamic HPI Sentence Config template is used to create new sentences and to manage existing ones. There are two types of sentences: simple and group. The Edit/Create new sentence link in the Findings section of the Dynamic HPI Config practice template launches the Dynamic HPI Sentence Config template. The sub-selection option can only be used in a sub-selection selection type. The sub-selection appears after the Pre Text and the Finding . The application does not require you to have the sub finding included in the sentence. Link Procedure and Dynamic HPI Content

In the Procedure HPIs panel, you can create a link between procedures created in the Procedure Setup panel and the dynamic HPI content configured in the Dynamic HPI Config practice template. If you select the Use configured HPI from manage custom links instead of DHPI check box in the Procedure HPIs panel, in run time, the dynamic HPI template does not open for the procedure that is linked to a static HPI template on the Manage Custom Link practice template. In run time, after you document procedure details in the Procedure panel in the framework templates, the documented procedure details linked to the dynamic HPI upload to the grid of the Reason for Visit panel. If you select the procedure details in the Reason for Visit panel, the dynamic HPI template opens.
