Add Visit Code Modifiers

You can add or replace visit code modifiers. After you have calculated or selected a visit code on the Finalize (BH) template, the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine may add modifiers to the visit code based on coding rules. You can also manually add up to two modifiers for each visit code and edit the modifiers. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For a patient record, open a new encounter. Open the Finalize (BH) template. Expand the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. To add a modifier to a visit code, select Modifier(s) under the corresponding visit code, and then select a code from the list. To replace the modifier of a visit code, select a modifier, and then select another modifier from the list. Enter Additional Visit Codes

You can enter two additional codes. The entered codes can be additional E&M codes, behavioral health codes, medicare preventive codes, or visit code service codes. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For a patient record, open a new encounter. Open the Finalize template. In Evaluation and Management Coding, do the following: To enter a visit code service code, select the second or third Visit code field, and then select a code from the list. Note: You can update the items in the Visit Code Service Category list in File Maintenance under Service Categories. To enter an E&M, behavioral health, or medicare preventive code, select the corresponding links, and then select the code. Add Visit Code Modifiers You can add or replace visit code modifiers. Before you begin The No Charge Visit check box is configured by default. You must configure a no-charge code defined in the SIM library using the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes template. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Manage Procedure Groups and Codes Practice Template forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine. Note: The No Charge Visit check box is available only when you configure a no-charge code with the No Charge Visit check box using the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes template. Submit E&M Codes under 95 or 97 Coding Guidelines

You can submit a calculated or selected E&M code to the Superbill under the 95 or 97 Coding Guidelines. Before you begin You must select an assessment in the Today’s Assessments panel to submit an E&M code. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For a patient record, open a new encounter. Open the Finalize template. Expand the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. Evaluation and Management Coding To use a calculated E&M code, you can select the MDM level, or enter the total visit time. Enter any additional visit codes. To meet visit code criteria for Quality Reporting, select a SNOMED CT code. To override the calculated code, select an E&M code in the code options section at the bottom of the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. Note: The 99201 code cannot be selected as the code has expired on January 1, 2021. To generate a note, referral, lab order, requisition, or another document, select Generate Note and select an option. Select Submit Code. The code appears in the Submitted field. Th

Select SNOMED CT Codes for Quality Reporting

If you do not bill from NextGen® Enterprise EHR but need to meet the visit code criteria for Clinical Quality Measures (CQMs), you can use a SNOMED CT® code instead of a CPT code. On the Finalize (BH) template, in the Evaluation and Management Coding panel, select the SNOMED Type (optional) link. The SNOMED Type template opens. Select a SNOMED CT code. Select Save & Close. The NextGen® HQM (Health Quality Measure) application uses the selected code at registry reporting time. Note: The code is not uploaded to the Procedures or Problems module. Enter the CPT Codes for Transition of Care Visits

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient and open an encounter. On the Intake template, select an impacted Specialty (Family Practice/Internal Medicine, Obstetrics or Pediatrics), and select Visit Type as Transition into Care. Click the Finalize tab. The Finalize template opens. In the Evaluation and Management Coding panel, click the second Value Code field. A list of service categories opens. Evaluation and Management Coding Click Care Management. A list of visit codes and descriptions opens. Service Item Mstr Select the visit code that represents the complexity and timing of care. Click OK. Upon return to the Finalize template, the CPT code populates the second Visit Code field. Important: You must complete all the fields in the Transitioning Into Care or the Cm Care Transitions template before submitting the charges to the Superbill.
