Record the Patient's Derm Risk Factors

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a Established patient or New patient as appropriate.
  2. Create a patient encounter and open the Intake template.
  3. Select a Specialty of Dermatology and a Visit Type of Office Visit.
    The Derm Risk Factors Config link is available on the patient header of every dermatology template
  4. Click the Config icon.
    The Derm Risk Factors Config template opens.
  5. If the patient does not have any risk factor, select the No risk indicators check box.
  6. In the Tobacco section, document the smoking status of the patient as follows:
    1. Click Tobacco Usage to document the tobacco consumption details such as tobacco type and usage per day on the Social - History Tobacco template.
    2. Click Tobacco cessation discussed to document smoking cessation efforts and passive smoke exposure on the Tobacco Cessation Discussed template.
  7. Select Yes, No, or Unknown for other risk factors.
    The default setting is Unknown. The risk factors for Melanoma (MM), Diabetes (DM), Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) are available.
