Risk Factor Indicators

To ensure that patient health risk factors are not overlooked, the Derm Risk Factors Config link is available on the Dermatology specialty templates. The link indicates whether the patient has risk factors or not. The following indicators are available: Indicators Description No risk factor The patient does not have the health risk factor. risk indicator unknown It is not known if the patient has the health risk factor. risk indicator yes The patient has the health risk factor. Document the Risk Factors

You can document the risk factors for patients. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On a patient encounter, open any of the standard visit templates. (for example, the Intake template. On the template header, select Config. The Risk Factors Config template opens. If the patient has no risk factors, select No risk indicators, and select Save & Close. If the patient has a history of tobacco use, do the following: In the Tobacco section, select Tobacco Usage.The Social History - Tobacco template opens. Note: If the tobacco information is updated on the Screening Summary template or on the Risk Factors Config template, the application automatically fills values on the Social History - Tobacco template. Enter data on the Social History - Tobacco template, and select OK. Select the Tobacco Cessation Discussed link.The Tobacco Cessation Discussed template opens. Viewing Risk Factors

You can view details about patients' risk factors to help you to evaluate their health condition. The risk indicators for Tobacco use (TOB), Hypertension (HTN), Diabetes (DM), and Coronary artery disease (CAD) are available for documentation in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Risk factors You can use the Risk Factors Config template to indicate a patient's current health conditions. You cannot consider a patient's health at high risk by looking at these conditions or you can view the risk indicator icons without opening the template. If you want to indicate that the patient is at high risk for developing a certain condition, you can document such details on the Care Guidelines template. You can use the risk indicators to review the risk factors without opening the Risk Factors Config template. Document the Risk Factors You can document the risk factors for patients. Documenting Patient Encounters for Dermatology Visits

The Dermatology User Guide forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine provides the guidelines for conducting a comprehensive patient encounter in the Dermatology specialty. During Dermatology patient encounters, you can use various features that are designed to streamline your workflows and improve your data captures. The intake staff checks in the patient on the Intake and Histories templates. If required, the intake staff can review the patient's details documented in the previous encounters on the Home Page template. The provider can choose to review the patient's historical information documented in the previous encounters on the Home Page template or review the Intake Note document generated by the intake staff. After reviewing the information, the provider documents the patient examination on the GET and SOAP templates. The provider completes the visit and selects the E&M code on the Finalize template.
