Quick Notes

Quick Notes offer a way to reduce the repetition associated with documenting information, in cases where there is a great degree of common information documented in similar clinical situations during patient visits. Quick Notes can help providers increase their productivity without compromising patient care. Quick Notes enable you to save the entire SOAP template, including all data fields, check boxes, options, and associated HPI settings under a unique name. You must later edit the information for the individual patient while using the quick note. Note: If you apply a Quick Note and subsequently apply a second Quick Note, the data associated with the second Quick Note overwrites all existing data in the template. Understanding Quick Note Functionality

When using the Quick Notes feature, you can only apply one Quick Note at a time. If you apply a Quick Note, then subsequently apply a second one, the data associated with the second Quick Note set overwrites all existing data in the template. Using a Quick Note Default Set

Once you have created the Quick Notes default template sets for your practice, you can use the defaults sets to quickly fill the templates with your default set values. The following guidelines apply when using Quick Notes: The current Specialty must match the specialty defined for the Quick Note. The Quick Note overwrites any data in the templates. Creating Patient Notes

You can view a note in the Clinical History/Notes tab. You can create a patient note to record a patient's formal and informal information. You can create a formal note to be stored with the medical chart through your notepad or word processor. Notes created externally from NextGen® Enterprise PM remain in their native format, stored on the database, and attached to the chart. You can designate a chart note as non-printable. Non-printable notes can be changed to printable only by the creator of the note or an administrator. You can also create a quicknote from within NextGen® Enterprise PM. A quicknote is part of the application and is ideal for short notes. A Quicknote is effective for getting data quickly and making it easily accessible on-line. You can manage various clinical narratives. Disable the Quick Note Functionality

You can disable a Quick Note functionality for your practice. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Practice Configuration Template User Guide forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine. Click the File menu and select System\Practice Template. On the Practice tab, scroll down to double-click the Practice Configuration template. If the list does not include the Practice Configuration template, select the All radio button, and scroll down the list again. The Practice Configuration template appears. Scroll-down to the Quick Note section. Quick Note Note: The sections are in alphabetic order. Select the Disable Quick Note check box. Click Save and Close.
