Pediatrics Dynamic Parameters

The dynamic HPI templates for the Pediatrics subspecialties have both generic and distinct sections available for documentation. Generic sections are common to all reasons for visit and distinct sections are specific to each reason. A combination of these sections allow for the complete documentation of the patient's reason for visit on the current encounter. The following table defines the generic sections that appear for all Pediatric subspecialties. Note: An asterisk (*) indicates that the section includes a free text an entry option to enter the appropriate data if the desired option is not available. Parameter Description Intro Includes the introduction and the purpose of the patient visit. You can select either initial visit or follow up visit type for the chief complaint. Pediatric Sub-Specialty Reasons for Visit

The Pediatrics sub-specialty Reason for Visit panel includes a list of chief complaints that are configured to launch the following dynamic HPI templates: Autism Chest pain Fibromyalgia Joint pain Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Med check Palpitations Scleroderma Note: Not all of the reasons for visit associated to Pediatrics use a dynamic HPI template. Many chief complaints still open a reason-specific HPI template that is not dynamic. The documentation of limbs on one side of the body or the other is accomplished in the laterality view on the dynamic History of Present Illness (HPI) template. This view uses two separate grids. The Well Child visit in Pediatrics enables you to document age-specific complaints for the following reasons for visit: Well Child birth to 1 Year Well Child 1-4 Years Well Child 5-10 Years Well Child 11-21 Years Note: This topic provides information on only those reasons for visit that opens dynamic HPI template associated with Pediatrics, Well Child visit. Dynamic HPI Templates

In the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates, the following types of History of Present Illness (HPI) templates are used to document a patient's reason for visiting the office: Static HPI - displays hard-coded content that is not easily customizable; a single template is available for each complaint with options for selecting pre-determined details: the final concatenation is available when you close the template Dynamic HPI - enables you to add, edit, update, and delete dynamic content for the HPI and concatenates the content on the template as items are selected or edited; NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is packaged with pre-configured dynamic HPI templates for the Gastroenterology, Physical Therapy, Orthopedics, Urology, and Pediatrics Well Child; the specific details about these existing HPI elements are provided in the Specialty Specific Dynamic HPI Elements section of this user guide. Orthopedic Reasons for Visit

The dynamic HPI templates for the Orthopedic specialty are based on the laterality and non-laterality views. You can document the following chief complaints using a dynamic HPI template in an Orthopedic office visit: Ankle Cervical spine Elbow Foot General orthopedic Hand Hip Knee Lumbar spine Shoulder Thoracic spine Wrist Treatment visits can be based on the laterality view as most patients have an issue with a body part that is either on the right or left.
